Summary
He looks the same—hair longer, features a little bit more defined, yes, but, other than that, absolutely nothing’s different. It’s the same face he used to wake up to, he used to kiss and trace with his fingertips late at night, the same face that he didn’t get to see when he left their apartment without once looking back. An arm distance away. God, he can feel the tips of his fingers tingling with the need to touch the skin of that neck.
Wilhelm takes a deep breath, tries to force a friendly smile on his face, thinks he fails miserably.
Simon has always been able to tell, anyway.
or, Simon breaks up with Wilhelm. Years later, they must see if it is possible to save what was once ruined.

Summary
Simon can’t tear his eyes from his face, so he catches the way Wilhelm’s eyelids flutter shut, chest rising high in a deep breath that feels like it’s filling Simon’s own lungs. He looks like life itself, like everything exists because of him, like the universe blew up from nothing and became what it did in a blazing explosion just so this man could be real, just so Simon could sit in front of him and look, and cherish, and love.
Then his eyes snap open and his hands drop to the ground, leaving his own alone in the air, abandoned.
It’s ok, he reasons with himself. I’m due some abandoning myself.
or, Simon breaks up with Wilhelm. This is how it felt to fight to get him back.
