Summary
You frown. He frowns. You smile, in disbelief. He also smiles, and it looks alien on him, like his is a face that doesn't smile often. You blink. He might blink, too. You don't know. You were blinking. Your eyes were closed. You do know, though. That irrelevantly handsome, white-blonde, cheeto-eyed motherfucker is you.
You allow your head to thunk onto the table. The pain barely registers through your panic. You've been denying the possibility the moment you woke up and discovered that you had switched both locations and bodies overnight, but it's been half an hour. Nothing's changed. It's not a dream. Your name is (probably) Dirk Strider, and you are absolutely, undeniably fucked.

Summary
You start to turn around when an explosion erupts behind you, a hot, invisible, unstoppable force rippling through the air and crowding out any other sound. Simultaneously, the very ground shakes, and you lose your balance, falling to your knees and barely catching yourself with your hands.
The sound comes back just as abruptly, and the cacophony of noise splits your head in two.
Amidst distant, terrified voices and what seems like hundreds of car alarms, you scramble to your feet and whip around to stare in dumb shock at the giant plume of smoke and dust billowing out of what used to be your favorite eatery.
[OR: SI/OC!Bro convinces himself he's in a perfectly generic AU and that there is no teenage parenthood or plot contrived permadeath in his future. Then, as if to spite him, a meteorite straight up annihilates his go-to restaurant right in front of him.]
