Dan Heng cups Jing Yuan’s face. His touch is grounding. The look on his face is tender, full of worry and concern.
“Jing Yuan,” he whispers again. “Why should I care about Blade?”
Jing Yuan’s heart breaks but he answers. “Because he is, was, Yingxing.”
Dan Heng draws in a sharp breath. Jing Yuan is aware he knows Dan Feng’s crime in detail, and knows that Dan Heng recognizes the name.
Slowly, Dan Heng closes his eyes, hiding whatever he is feeling behind closed lids. “What was Yingxing to Dan Feng?” he asks.
“I don’t know,” Jing Yuan confesses.
