It was worthy of admiration in that founder-prescribed way Joshua read of, but he was not so noble...

Summary
Clive steadied himself with cane in hand, looking upon the man behind bars. His new prisoner seemed rather jovial.
“You have good reason to not seek the Archduke, don’t you? Are you a saboteur, a criminal?”
As the lord wondered about the intruder’s origins, the man was undisturbed.
“We’re all criminals, taking what doesn’t belong to us milord.” He offered Clive. “That’s why I’m here, to offer the purportedly nobler criminals a little hope.” The Marquess reflexively looked away in the man’s pontification.“I look at you, and all I see is someone who's hopelessly lost.”
A month after the emergence of Shiva, Clive and Joshua Rosfield are separated whilst dealing with the loss of their dear friend. As Valisthea pushes into a new war, a shattered Clive comes upon an odd man offering him hope... he struggles to trust it.

It seemed father was going away again. Young Jill wasn’t privy to these decisions. She was rarely privy to much.
“When will he just leave already?” Jill complained while her mother held her steady.
“You don’t mean that. He’ll miss you terribly.” She always had to remind Jill that her father loved her. But there was a difference between telling versus showing. Perhaps it was because of how little she was, he imagined her fragile.
“He doesn’t see me enough to miss me.” She whispered.

Summary
Jill hadn't intended to make new friends, she certainly hadn't intended to share their fire. In truth nothing in her life had gone how she intended. But nobody goes about planning for the collapse of one’s life in such vivid detail. Unless they were insane, or an oracle. Or both.
“So, if you’re like us and don’t belong here… why be here?” Her host asked curiously. “I understand things must not be swell. Nobody climbs the Glaives if everything’s working out.” She offered Jill her drink, there was little left but she took it all the same.
“I came here looking for someone. A woman... my mother.” Jill admitted into the flames, struggling to imagine her face. “I left her a long time ago and I promised I’d come back for her.”
Weeks after the events of Shiva's awakening in Rosilith, Jill Warrick finally returns home to reckon with everything that was taken from her.
