Summary
That was when the first tear streaked down his face and the moment when he realized that this was, more than likely, his reality now. Sure, he could try and fix the machine, but there was no guarantee that he could replicate the absolute miracle that had been the first one.
Then there was the question of whether or not it would even be a good idea to try.
See, this was why he had wanted a drink, preferably before all of this.
A drink was easy, it let him forget. A drink wouldn’t judge him, people would. A drink would make him feel warm.
People made him feel cold.
-(or)-
To hear the guttural screams echo back in your mind like an unending wave, with no choice but to listen as it crashed into h̶e̶r̶ with their full weight, with no choice but to beat back at them without any chance of keeping herself together.
Comfort wasn't a necessity, Hope wasn't a necessity, Acceptance wasn't a necessity.
It would have made everything easier if she'd learned that a long time ago.

Summary
"Can you just look at me for one gods damned second?!"
"Why?" Ruby hissed, still facing toward the wall, "Everywhere I go; death follows. Half of my body has been replaced, I'm barely human."
"Did you ever stop to think that I didn't care?!"
"I-"
"Don't even think, for a single second, that such things would be enough to keep me from you, Ruby!"
Ruby could only turn to stare at Weiss.
"You're mine," the white-haired girl whispered, "and I'm not letting you go again."

Summary
It was pure chance that Ruby gained the chance to change Destiny.
A pure coincidence that some would live where others would die.
Then why, in the moment, was she unable to save anyone?
Every time she pressed that dial, every time she felt her body change and snap, she knew that someone could die.
It was only then that her endless optimism would find its match.
<“I could save so many lives!” she begged, pleaded even, “just let me do this!”>
