Summary
Jack worries at the edge of the water, arms crossed and staring at the calm stream of the river like it wants to jump out and kill him. To be fair, most days this would be a rather fair assessment, actually, if it weren’t for the wetsuit Jack is wearing.

Summary
The idea of running is similar to the idea of rebirth. One day, Wilbur Soot and his new friend are at a music store mostly dicking around and showing each other the stupidest-looking albums they can and saying, “Looks like you” to see who can get the other to laugh the hardest. Tommy eventually picks out two discs that he likes the look of well enough, for reasons he can’t quite place, and Wilbur is happy enough to drop a few 20s on them. The next day (or what feels like it), Wilbur Soot and his little brother are stepping into an apartment far, far away from the music store and the horror show that followed just from buying Tommy a couple discs.

Summary
The way Hannah looks as she soars through the sky could almost make Tina believe she’s flying. Her partner catches her, and the crowd gasps and claps at her sticking the landing. Tina claps too, cheering louder than anyone else in the room. Hannah and Boomer stand in the middle of the ring, holding hands and bowing to the crowd, grins more blinding than the stadium lights.

Summary
The real world is fragile in a way that makes Wilbur Soot want to lay down in a dark room and never have to participate in society ever again. Things like capitalism, injustice, and the separation of Pangea aren’t quite as mind-numbingly terrifying, oddly enough, because he knows he can’t fix those things. They’re scary, but the only thing scarier than not having control is knowing you do. At the end of the day, the things that rot away his insides and take hold inside of him are his father’s disappointment, the fact that he hasn’t seen his best friend in over a year, and his little brother’s hero worship that has begun to feel like suffocation.

Summary
“You’re makin’ it kind of easy,” Technoblade says with a frown. “Like, I could literally just stab you right now,” and he pulls out a sword to prove it. Considering the amount of times Technoblade has failed to stab him with it, Phil is decidedly not impressed.
“I need your help,” Phil says, the words like acid on his tongue but there’s no one else in the fucking world who could help him right now. The fact that he’s being stalked for attempted murder is unfortunately saving his life.
“I- what?” Technoblade asks, confused, which Phil thinks is fair. “Philza, I feel like maybe you’re misinterpretin’ this. I’m here to kill you.”

Summary
“You alright, man?” Quackity asks, probably coming off a little too calm considering the both of them just had a near-death experience, but he prides himself in his ability to go from the worst experiences of his life to a state of complete calm. He met a therapist once, at the almost-home that wasn’t quite meant to be, who told him that was a concerning quality. She amended it with the fact that it would probably help him survive, so Quackity thinks he’s doing just fine.

Summary
On the way to the check-out line, Wilbur picks up a carton of strawberries with that same subconscious smile he can’t really pin-point, and he’s almost tempted to make a dinner fit for a king of Corn Flakes and strawberries. It’s not until he’s setting the items on the conveyor belt that a memory is set off in his head.
It’s just a small memory. A simple moment in a time before all the carnage of war really began; when they were all just beginning to realize the weight of the things they wanted and what they were prepared to do to get it. When L’manburg was allowed to just be something they built and wanted to protect. When L’manburg and Tommy were one in Wilbur’s eyes and that fact wasn’t absolutely fucking devastating.

Summary
“I’m dying, Tommy,” Tubbo confirms the worst of Tommy’s fears. Tommy takes another shaky breath, settling his forehead against the bedsheets. This can’t be happening. This can’t be fucking happening. They lived through Dream, they lived through Technoblade, they lived through Wilbur, but there’s always something on the other side, isn’t there? There’s always something against them on this fucking server.

Summary
“Steve please,” Technoblade begs as the polar bear extracts himself from under Techno’s head. Technoblade slides to the floor with a groan. Steve stumbles off to the other side of the room and plops down with an aggravated grunt. “I’m tired. You’re tired. Literally the perfect set up, man!” Steve growls. “I thought we had a deal. You eat anyone who steps foot on my property, I use you as a pillow.”

Summary
“Like, we can talk, right? But if I started sayin’ shit like, Hypixel are cruel, vicious assholes who like to watch kids get skewered for their own sick-”
Wilbur feels a jolt of fear up his spine as he interrupts with just, “Tommy.” It’s less an interruption and more a warning. Quackity’s eyes widen, skirting to Wilbur in his nerves. Tommy scoffs at their reactions, as if it isn’t exactly what he was expecting. If Wilbur were thinking clearly, he wouldn’t have given Tommy the chance to mouth off at Hypixel at all. Wilbur feels like he’s hardly fighting the other tributes at this point, just keeping Tommy from being blown off the map by Hypixel personally.

Summary
“That’s, uh, unfortunate,” Technoblade says as he grabs a second plate from the cupboard. “‘Cause see, I wasn’t under the impression you were comin’ today. Considerin’ the everythin’. So I didn’t know I was supposed to provide pancakes.”
“That’s literally on you, Technoblade,” Tommy says, sitting in the chair he always did when he stayed in the arctic, not a moment of hesitation, like not a day has passed and he still lives here. “Maybe if you used that small fucking brain for anything other than reading and withers, you’d’ve picked up on the very obvious ‘Tommy Innit will be coming to my house and demanding pancakes’ vibe.”

Summary
If Quackity were kinder, he would lend pity to Wilbur and make himself scarce or the kind of angry that doesn’t have Wilbur memorizing the shape of his lips.
Of course, Quackity is not kind. He is categorically selfish, unrelenting in his dedication, a force of nature that bends his wants into needs and closes his eyes to the reality that someone else may not be able to. Wilbur finds himself wanting to bend.

Summary
If there is one thing about Tommy Innit that is known to many, known to all really, it is that he loves Tubbo. Every action on this server he has taken, by his side or even against him, has proven that fact time and time again. Nothing in this life or the next could change this fact about Tommy. Tommy just wishes that motherfucker would stop making his home in the absolute freezing cold.

Summary
Quackity fills two medicinal plastic cups with poorly measured fingers of tequila from a bottle with a note taped to the front reading, for tommy’s 18th birthday. It is not the first time Quackity has dipped into the bottle, but the last time he shared a drink it was with Wilbur. He passes a cup to Tommy’s shaking hands. Maybe it’s not Tommy’s birthday, but Quackity thinks killing your brother ages you faster than time ever could.

Summary
If Tommy’s honest, though, neither the sea nor Dream can bring him peace. It makes him guilty sometimes, especially with the way Dream tries to see him each and every day, but nothing is peace like walls and vans and a side he could always stand by. L’manburg kept him loved and cared for and safe. Tommy misses the days he wasn’t kept just to be fucking kept.
