Summary
He felt the stab like pain when he’d fallen over the rubble, but but didn’t realise how much of the shrapnel was stuck in his wound. A large chunk of metal was sitting comfortably in a deep hole above his knee, and Ezra knew he would lose too much blood trying to take it out. White scratches, new and old, marked the length of his leg, whilst blood oozed out several pierced holes in his skin, and tiny shards stuck to him like parasites.
He didn’t want to get blood all over the common room, but what other choice did he have? He was sleeping in Zeb’s room, and the older man would make fun of him if he started crying in his presence. Although he tried to have a high pain intolerance, Ezra couldn’t ‘man up’ to take the torture of his leg. It would be easier to deal with his injuries by himself, like he always did, to save himself from the embarrassment of not being strong enough.

He’d kicked the small blanket off his legs, tossing and turning throughout the night cycle, and was now staring at the ceiling, his eyes glossed over with tears and his hands clutching the mattress beneath him. Since going to a humid planet with rich vegetation, he hadn’t felt himself, sneezing and sniffling here and there, but then the headaches hit like solid bricks, piercing through his being like a gun to the temple, and the throbbing migraines refused to let him sleep.
It was about time he got sick.

The new prisoner never spoke. His eyes were a lifeless grey, hazy and numb, and his pail, ghostly skin highlighted his frail, sickly form. He refused all foods, and when they were forced inside of him, he threw up within an hour, so that his bones were bold against the surface of his skin. They said he was Imperial, ISB and a Captain, too, but suicidal capture procedures couldn’t explain the self harm scars littered across his thighs and arms. If the prisoner was an obedient slave of the Imperial Regime, he would’ve orchestrated an escape in his first week of capture. He gave up too easily. He laid in that cell and waited for his body to fail. He wanted the Rebellion to kill him. He didn’t want to live.
