Summary
The roster has dropped. Many of the USWNT players are out due to injury, though some of them are at least recovered enough to enjoy some time together, if they can't play. They can at least prepare for the holidays and have some fun!
Tobin Heath and Christen Press open their home to a few friends, as it's been far too long since they've seen each other.
Also, the Germany friendlies happen. Bits and pieces of Qatar 2022 will be mentioned if they make themselves relevant, through primarily the USMNT.

Summary

Chapter 1 is an expansion of a 'discussion' that takes place between Ali Riley and Christen Press in chapter three of my fic "A Home for the Holidays". Most of the following scenes are either missing scenes from "A Home for the Holidays", "We Can Do Hard Things", or are related to events in the past or present that don't belong in either story.
Chapters 56-60 are a mini-arc taking place between the round of 16 and the quarterfinals of the 2023 Women's World Cup and were posted together.

Summary
In 2020, nine NWSL teams were invited to inaugurate the first ever NWSL Challenge Cup.
Eight teams went.
Nearly half the Orlando Pride - a handful of rookies, a new trade, a few veterans - decided to risk their safety on the governor's say-so and go out to a bar, despite the declaration of a 'bubble' to keep the teams safe. Many of them and some members of staff subsequently came down with COVID.
In the Krieger-Harris household, the youngest member - Ali and Ashlyn's young, rebellious teammate Emily Sonnett - has just confessed her part in the wrongdoing, and is apprehensive about what's to come.
She, however, has the least to worry about....

In her absence, her girlfriend, NWSL star and captain Megan Rapinoe feels...abandoned. She has the urge to rebel against her girlfriend's, and her family's, rules about eating well. On call with a couple of her National teammates, who ought to have been her club opponents if the pandemic hadn't screwed the schedule, she declares herself in open rebellion.
Rachael Rapinoe doesn't take the news well - though she blames Sue more than Megan.

Summary
When Tobin takes Clarisse and Alyssa off by themselves to discuss Alyssa's naughty language, Ali hunts up Scarlett, who's gone for cooldown exercises in Snapdragon's gym. She and Katie Johnson (sidelined because of her knee injury, but present as Scarlett's housemate and national teammate) have a few things to say to Scarlett about her recent attitude.
A quick call to Scarlett and Katie's national captain (probably rousing her in the middle of the night, in her time zone) forces Scarlett to disclose something to Ali that she'd been doing her best to hide. Bullying, talkback, lying...Scarlett just keeps digging herself a deeper hole. But in the end, all Ali and Katie want is to make Angel City home for Scarlett. Can they work it out?
