Summary
There’s a lot about this moment that Napoleon doesn’t see coming.
The bullets, for one, nor indeed the man shooting them, not until it’s too late anyway. But the thing that really catches him by surprise is the way Illya steps in front of him, turning his back on the shooter and enveloping him in a kind of desperate, protective hug.
The thing is, Illya doesn’t even like him.
(Trope prompt: "You took a bullet for me")

Summary
“We’ve been in here far too long. If we leave now they’re going to be suspicious,” Napoleon says in a low voice, suddenly standing distressingly close to him.
“They are going to be suspicious no matter what,” Illya manages.
Napoleon tips his head slightly as he looks up at him. “Not if we’re… occupied.”
(Trope prompt: "Do you trust me?")

Summary
He’s just restless, is all. Too much time in one spot. Too much waiting. He’s still jumped up on adrenaline and unused to sitting around. They should be back out there, chasing down leads, not sitting in a hospital waiting room.

Summary
In some ways, it wasn’t a surprise, if only because working for UNCLE never ceased to find new ways of surprising him. He’d come to expect the unexpected, as it were. Privately, he had to admit he kind of liked it. Kept him on his toes. Made life interesting. Ok, maybe the prospect of having a desk wasn’t actually making his life more interesting, per se, but it was definitely a change from the usual.
It turns out that there is one thing about moving to their new home base in New York that completely catches him off guard—one thing that most definitely makes his life more interesting in the most complicated way possible—and that is Illya Kuryakin’s impossibly tiny shorts.
(Or, UNCLE settles into their new headquarters, Illya wears short shorts, and Napoleon slowly loses his mind.)

Summary
“You are stupid man,” Illya murmurs. His fingers tighten, digging into the soft flesh, though Napoleon can’t tell if it’s meant to be a threat or if the movement is involuntary. A conditioned response, maybe. “Not a single instinct for self-preservation.”
Napoleon swallows against the pressure on his throat and meets Illya’s gaze unwaveringly. “Not when it comes to you,” he says, his voice slightly hoarse. “Tell me you don’t want me, that you don’t want this, and I’ll walk away.”
(What really makes a person “dangerous”? Or, 4 times Illya and Napoleon were warned that the other person was dangerous, and 1 when they decided it was worth the risk.)

Summary
He should have run the other way as soon as Illya refused to answer his question of ‘why’, or at the very least put the shields up around his heart. Instead he looked deep into the icy blue eyes of a man who should be his enemy—who he’s already too far gone on—and took a leap of faith.
Napoleon Solo does not operate on faith. What the fuck is he doing?
(What they have is a mutually satisfying arrangement and nothing more, and Napoleon tells himself he's fine with that. That is, until he can't pretend that's the truth any longer.)

Summary
“They want you to kill me?” Napoleon asks.
He doesn’t look that concerned about it, and Illya doesn’t know whether to be offended by that or not. He’s washing the dishes, frowning over his shoulder occasionally. It’s possible Illya could have chosen a better time to tell him.
(Five times Napoleon and Illya were ordered to kill each other, and one where everyone decides they’ve had enough.)
