Summary
It was over.
The world was saved. Again.
Maybe even for the last time.
And yet, they jumped right back into hunting just a few days later because Dean needed the distraction from his grief. He was not happy to have survived the last Apocalypse. He was not relieved. He was barely hanging on to his sanity.
Dean had been down this road enough times to know his disappointment would only cut deeper and deeper every time he made it out of a hunt alive, and no matter how hard he tried, he could not ignore the dark pit of despair that had opened up inside him since Cas's sacrifice three weeks ago.

Summary
Alternative Universe - Canon Divergence from Episode: s09e09 Holy Terror up to the season 09 finale. (Title comes from Episode: s09e06 Heaven Can't Wait, and Episode: s04e01 Lazarus Rising.)
Instead of spiraling down the Wrong Path after kicking Cas out, Dean chooses the Right Path and fights for Cas to come back home. But having Cas by his side again and now constantly, rekindles the guilt, the relief, and the attraction Dean has tried so hard to bury over the past eight years.
Meanwhile, Cas has done a lot of growing up over the last four months alone and has emerged with a deeper understanding of himself. He has found peace in his humanity and if given the choice, he does not want to give it up.
But will Dean and Cas continue to make the right choices with Metatron plotting against them?
And why does all this seem like history repeating? (The tags do contain some spoilers.)

Summary
Alternative Universe - Canon Divergence from Episode: s09e09 Holy Terror and sequel to "What Makes You Special."
"What the hell you doing out here on your own?" Dean demands, his hands swinging outward. Sam opens his mouth but Dean does not wait for his answer, "Or better yet -- why did you leave without us?"
"I left a note," Sam says, a little petulant.
Cas stands slightly back from the arguing brothers, giving them space to talk it out.
"Oh, right, the note," Dean says sarcastically, taking a folded piece of paper out of his right jacket pocket and reading from it out loud, "'Dean, don't follow me.'"
He nods, pursing his lips, and gives Sam a dark look as he says, "Nice punctuation by the way."
Sam rolls his eyes.
"I was pretty clear," he mumbles.
"You think so, do you?" Dean says loudly, crumpling the note in his fist. "For the past week I've been watching traffic cams 'cause you turned off your damn phone, and you didn't even tell me why!" He throws the paper ball to the asphalt road.
Sam glances towards Cas and away guiltily.
Cas frowns and Dean's face falls.
