Mickey feels out of place the moment he steps into the building.
The expected silence of the room seems to only intensify the feeling of judgment he’s been drowning in for the past few weeks.
Even on the carpeted floor, his footsteps feel too heavy, and he cringes with every step he takes.There’s a librarian sitting at the circulation desk. She’s lost in her own book, but Mickey still finds himself shooting paranoid glances her way.
Franny doesn’t feel any of that same uneasiness and is content to pull books off the self, flip through them haphazardly and then put them back.
Or, a trip to the library and blueberry lavender ice cream.
