Summary
“Your boat,” he said, “It has a very particular sound.”
She was hesitant to shake his hand. She knew that sirens, according to her mother, do tend to tug humans down to their caves and eat them alive, but it just felt like the polite thing to do.
“W-Wanda,” she introduced herself, more air than voice, more heartbeat than breath, shaking hands with a fish.
-

“She'll need lunch and dinner. She isn’t picky. If she’s picky, tell her to watch cartoons.”
“What is it?” He sounds blank to even his own ears. “Where did it come from?”
“Her bedtime’s at seven. Should be easy. She’s a good girl.” Wanda clunks the heavy bag down. “Got it?”
Vision stares at the child. “Do I have a choice?”
(He does not.)

Summary
“So, let’s say you’re an angel,” he pants. “Why’d you jump on my car?”
“I didn’t know you’d be in a car.”
“But mine!”
“Because you’re who I’m for.” Wanda smooths down his shirt. “And because you are more likely to be hit by a car than others.”
He opens his mouth to disagree, but he bites the air and drops his chin, shaking his head at the street. “I should have never told you that.”
“I’ve come to protect you.” She smiles. “For your lifetime.”
“From… cars,” he says slowly, like that isn’t enough.
“From everything.”
