Summary
“He’s still like the human embodiment of a cactus but he’s gotten so handsome, Kenma, I think I’m losing my mind. This is my last summer here before I go back to Tokyo, so if anything’s gonna happen—” Kenma’s interjecting faint “mhm”s and “uh-huh”s throughout this panicked monologue, but there’s a faint clicking on his end that grows louder and louder as Tetsurou continues.
“—I think it’s gotta be this summer,” Tetsurou concludes. A very clear GAME OVER rings out from Kenma’s end of the call. Now that he’s paying attention, he can see that Kenma’s playing on his 3DS. “Are you even listening to me?” he asks, injured.
“It’s the same thing you’ve been saying since last summer. I reserve my right to tune out,” says Kenma, but he closes his 3DS.
Tsukishima and Kuroo spend three years working summer camps together at the 3M Sendai City Science Museum. Neither of them is the greatest at dealing with feelings, but with a little help from their friends, they figure things out along the way.

Summary
The menu drops from Tetsurou’s fingers and falls to the ground. Neither of them notices. “The National Museum…” Tetsurou’s voice trails off, before he looks back up, his eyes suspiciously shiny. “That’s here, Kei, holy shit.”
The words come out of Kei’s mouth all in a rush, finally breaking the dam he’s been building up for the last four months. “I’ve been applying to jobs in Tokyo since the school year started. I got rejected from almost all of them — that’s why I didn’t tell you I was applying. I didn’t want to get your hopes up. But I made it to the second round for this one, and… I don’t know, for some reason I have a really good feeling about this one.”
Or, the one in which Tsukishima Kei just wants to make it to Tokyo.

Summary
“Y’know, Kei, if your hands are cold, you can always hold mine.” He slides his phone back into his pocket and holds his hands out, grinning.
Kei blinks at him a couple of times. His gaze seems to pierce through to Tetsurou’s core, almost like he has x-ray vision. If he does have x-ray vision, Tetsurou muses, and he can see what’s in my pocket, I’ll either die or just panic and propose to him on the spot. Really, he’s not sure which would win out.
But the moment passes, and Tetsurou neither dies nor proposes. Instead, Kei’s piercing gaze fades into a look of mild exasperation. “You just want an excuse to hold my hand.”
“Guilty,” Tetsurou grins, without a trace of guilt.
For scientists like them, asking questions comes with the territory. This one, though, is more important than most.
