Description:

"Reign of Chaos" is an in-depth fanfiction trilogy that takes place in an alternate universe. It is a huge what-if? What if had Dennis Nedry succeeded in dropping off the embryos at the east dock? What if the tour had finished the next day and Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, along with Donald Gennaro, approved of Jurassic Park? What if Ian Malcolm was wrong about chaos theory that weekend—but it came about later on a grander scale? What might've happened after the inspection, if things had gone according to John Hammond's ambitious plans? The Reign of Chaos trilogy answers these questions. This fanfiction delves into the relationships between the characters and explores themes of greed, revenge, change, and redemption.

In addition to the trilogy, there are three more related fics. "The Ninth Circle of Hell" is a direct sequel to the Reign of Chaos Trilogy. "You Didn't Say the Magic Word" is a collection of fanfics based on the LiveJournal writing prompt community, 30 Bad Attitudes. "Almost Famous" is a stand-alone/one-shot. Please see "Series Notes" for further details.

Notes:

This series is character-driven. The characters will have a blend of both book and movie traits. The minor characters became major characters in this work (i.e. Nedry, Muldoon, Arnold, Wu, and Harding.) The major characters have different interactions with each other and even the relationships are different: Grant, Ellie, and Malcolm. Dodgson and his group from Bioysn play a major role in this story. There are comic book characters who also are present (Sonya, Raul, Lawala.) A few OCs pop up during the course of the story.

As for other characters, you'll recognize them by name, but they will not be portrayed as they were in canon. For example: Amanda (Kirby) and Billy (Brennan) will be in the story, but only in name and appearance. Their characters will be totally different from what you've seen in The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3. Characters such as those (Amanda, Billy, Nick Van Owen, Richard Levine, etc) make a very brief appearance and do not impact the story. I felt a brief note was necessary to avoid possible confusion. Also, on occasion I'll use a song lyric or a direct quote from Michael Crichton's novel. In both cases, I'll be certain to give credit.

"The Ninth Circle of Hell" is the sequel to the Reign of Chaos trilogy, and picks up right where the last book ended. Hammond returns to the island and finds out everything that happened during his absence. Nedry is appreheneded by the police after running into the Biosyn team. Wu is trapped with Biosyn and sees no way out of his situation. Hammond fights for Nedry to be granted a sentence reduction or fully pardoned -- if Nedry is able to convince Wu to return to InGen and get enough information to lock up Dodgson and his gang. Both Hammond and Wu will have more introspection and their views explored. This involves Hammond processing everything that's happened during his hospitalization, and Wu's reflections on his betrayal and the misery he experiences while being under Dodgson's boot. Although Wu has always been divided about his decision to leave InGen for Biosyn, Nedry offers him understanding, while also confronting Wu to face the choices he's made. Who better to help Wu see the truth about himself, than the first person who betrayed Hammond--Nedry.

"You Didn't Say the Magic Word" is a collection of fanfics focused on Dennis Nedry. These fics were written from prompts in the LiveJournal writing community, 30 Bad Attitudes. These stories focus on his character, his inner thoughts, and his interactions with Hammond and the InGen staff, Dodgson and the Biosyn team, and the personnel at Green Hills Federal Correctional Institution. Some of these fics take place before the novel/movie canon, during the novel/movie canon, and also during the RoC trilogy and its sequel. The fics that take place during the trilogy and sequel are unseen scenes.

"Almost Famous" is a one-shot and stand-alone fic which takes place in a similar universe to "Reign of Chaos" in which Nedry isn't killed by a dilophosaur, but instead, has been sent to prison for his crimes. This fic details a conversation between Nedry and Wu debating about the meaning of fame. Originally, this was a scene I wanted to use for "Reign of Chaos", but there was nowhere to put it or make it fit in with the larger story. This one-shot can be read at any point.
