Summary
Magnum hesitated, trying to decide the best course of action. Rick was clearly delirious, trapped in a nightmare of the past. Normally it didn’t take this long to pull him from a flashback, but the fact that they were currently trapped in a holding cell created a realistic illusion of being back at the camp.

Summary
It seemed that trouble followed Sam even off-duty.
The all-too familiar crack of a gunshot suddenly filled the air, followed by another. And another. Someone crumpled to the ground. Panic erupted as people screamed and ducked for cover.

Summary
He'd barely made it to the front steps before someone's hands were on him, tugging, dragging him away. Dragging him away from his friends. They were going to die in there, did anyone get that? He yanked back against the hold on him. He had to get inside. He had to get Matt and Andy. Now.

Summary
Isolation. He hated that word. It was never talked about in a positive light—because there really wasn’t anything positive about being cut off from others. It brought back too many memories, full of pain and even fear.

Summary
He was suddenly aware of the feeling of warm, sticky liquid dribbling down his side. That's when the pain struck him. He clenched his teeth together as his fingers dug into the thin ledge. Crap. He tried to glance down to figure out what he'd been caught on, but he was barely able to hold himself up as it was—which meant there was no way he was letting go with one hand to reach his radio.

Summary
He yanked against the cuffs, but they were fastened tightly and there was no way he was loosening them. The house may have been old, but the banister was in good enough shape that it would take a lot of force to rip it out, leverage that Kelly didn't have with how he was bound.

Summary
The criminal smirked down at his bound captive, who was still unconscious from the firm knock he'd been given by the butt of a pistol. Blood dribbled down the side of P.I.'s face, stemming from a gash on his forehead. 'This'll teach him to stay out of other people's business.'

Summary
From the look on his friend’s face, Severide knew that Casey, too, was calculating the chance of them taking the punks down with minimal injury. These guys were pretty big, and even if he and Casey could overpower them with their fists, the knives added an entire other dimension to the situation.
“No heroics, got it?” Impatience was overtaking the leader, unease showing through in the way he shifted, jabbing his knife in the men’s direction. “Just—”
Before the word even left his mouth, Severide made his move. In one swift motion, his fingers clamped around the thug’s wrist, shoving the knife away. His other hand curled into a fist at the same time, landing a punch directly to the jaw of the would-be robber.

Summary
He tripped over something—maybe a rock, maybe a stick—and fell headlong into some brush. It was only when he tried to catch himself that he realized his hands were still bound together. There had been no time to find a knife to cut himself loose...or maybe he had looked. Whatever. At this point there was nothing he could do about it, and his mind was screaming at him to get up and run. He shoved himself to his feet and took off, ducking to avoid a low-hanging tree branch.

Rick waved him off. "Save it." He could count on one hand the number of times he was ever actually mad at Thomas…but this was one of those rare occasions. Because seriously...his friend had done some stupid things before, but this was just taking it too far.

Summary
Jay felt the air rush out of his lungs when his back slammed into contact with the concrete. Maybe he blacked out for a second—he wasn't quite sure. He struggled to catch his breath. 'What just happened?'
His managed to lift his head enough to make out the smoke wafting up from the smashed hood of a car—a car that definitely should not be half on the sidewalk and smashed into the trunk of the sedan that was parked at the curb.

Summary
When he woke up a few hours later, he'd managed to have developed a splitting headache along with a case of the chills.
He didn't check his temperature, because really, he probably was just overreacting. Higgy told him he did that a lot. And if he checked his temp, that was basically admitting he had a fever. Nah, he'd be all right.
