Summary
"Noah first sees the man when he’s eight. He’s coming home from school, backpack weighing heavy on his shoulders; the man is standing by the swings in the playground outside Victor Park, silent and still. Noah can’t see his face, but his skin is deathly pale. He’s wearing a black suit, a stark contrast to the bright, colorful plastic of the swingset. Noah ignores him and keeps walking, eyes fixed in front of him, trying to not think about the uneasiness roiling in his gut, or the persistent feeling that something is wrong that worms its way into his brain."
