Summary
This is the world you live in, this is who you are, but it isn’t enough. You are never enough. Your story is told to whoever bothers to listen; your scars and your piercings, your slouch and your accent, the pieces are there. Someone has to look, right?
You will never stop being Todoroki Touya, for all that you wish to be anything, anywhere.
You turn to look at him. “You know everything, don’t you, hero,” you drawl. “It doesn’t matter to me who he looks up to—I told you, didn’t I? I’m here to kill Endeavor, and that’s it. I wouldn’t care less what happens to the rest of them.”
“Sounds like a lot of bullshit you’re trying to convince yourself of,” he says, meeting your eyes through his visor.
Perhaps, if you a different person, you would say you saw red. You didn’t. You turn your beady eyes on him and move forwards. You hiss, “You don’t know anything,” and take a hold of his collar.

Summary
You are Todoroki Natsuo, but what does that mean? What does that mean, being the second youngest, the weakest? You didn't know him when he left, you didn't know him when he trained Shouto, you didn't know her when she was removed from the family.
You say you want to go into law because you want to prevent similar incidents from happening (or at least from being covered up) but what does that mean when you can't change anything about your own family?
Because you were always told 'family first', but what family is left of yours? You don't want your father to come back, but he's always back.
Just because he is your brother, it does not mean Fuyumi and Shouto are not your siblings either. Or that Rei is your mother. You tell him that you put them first, and the decision has been made if it comes down to either him or them.
He laughs.
It doesn’t sound insane—it sounds self-deprecating.

Summary
"Say it like you miss me," you say, and you lift your chin to look him in the eye.
You are twenty-two years old, and you represent your life as a song of piano keys being jammed at random; however oddly enough in that it plays only in melodic minors and phrases on repeat. You have waited in your twenty-two years of life, and then you learn that that might end soon. You learn you want to be patient, because somehow, you are still hopeful.
(In which Fuyumi finally talks, and in which she doesn't take photos because her memory is a camera in and of itself.)
You are cold, no, you are freezing. Anger is associated with heat but the worst comes after your hair falls out. After you are too cold, and the room is frozen and no one moves. After the disaster strikes, and each block turns to its own ice shelf, melting slowly under the pressure of the elders and their caught greenhouse warming. They fall as your anger cools, because you are a disaster when your hand is forced. You will make that certain, because you too are a Todoroki, and Todorokis do not back down when asked.
(You don’t get the ice cream.)

Summary
[It's your turn on the podium now, Shouto.]
“You’ll never amount to anything,” he sneers, force a crater (crater crater crater, fire) and you swallow and nod (obey, Shouto, obey). “Not if you keep this up. Next—no, tomorrow, we’re training. I can’t—I can’t believe you’ve publicly failed me, Shouto. You were supposed to be the best.”
“I have school,” you manage. There are countless other things you could say (“No, Father, you were supposed to be the best,”) but you don’t. You’re too scared.
“I don’t care,” he snarls.
You nod.
