Starting from a person’s 16th birthday, if they are bonded, anything they write on their skin appears on their soulmate (or soulmates) as well. Not all soulmates are romantic, but most are, and it is relatively rare for linked people to decide they would be better as friends.
Miles Edgeworth refuses to let a sentimental attachment mar his impeccable logic, and Phoenix Wright assures his soulmate that he’s fine with staying platonic; after all, he’s still more than a little bit in love with his childhood best friend.
