    Izuku thought that he was working with unusable cards, that he had been dealt the wrong hand right at the beginning, and a meeting with his Idol crushed his remaining hope of salvation. Izuku loses his will to keep going, just wanting it to end; so, in the words of his once-friend, he takes a swan dive…

    Well, they tried, at least. The Reaper doesn't like them apparently, just sent them all back... rude. One of them thought Izanami would've been nicer, and another wants to sleep. Maybe they can fight death? Narrator's just fed up with their antics.

    Though, maybe peace can be found within this chaos.

    tldr: Izuku takes Bakugou's advice, only to somehow wake up alive. Maybe not mentally sound, as his now-numerous headmates may tell you, but alive nonetheless. Vigilantism becomes much easier when you're supposedly dead but unable to actually stay that way. Being a system of complicated individuals is somehow harder to manage.

    Izuku is a boy with open eyes and a kindness that stretches miles and miles deep. He knows more than any ten year old should, and Toshinori is aware of this. He's been aware of this since the moment he crouched down in front of the boy and let him press their palms together. Now Toshinori is impossibly smitten and determined to heal Izuku the same way he helped heal him, no matter what challenges jump in the way. He'll protect and build him up no matter what. For his son, nothing is ever too much.

    Of course, he never claimed to think fatherhood to be easy going in. He just... hadn't thought it would make him want to Detroit Smash some cocky brat named 'Kacchan' through a wall either.

Hizashi let his eyes roam the kid’s face, heart growing heavier with every jagged line he could map out on his face.

    Izuku attempted to swallow around the lump in his throat, trying not to let tears fall as he talked, “I, uhm. I ran out of concealer, and- and mine are super obvious. I didn’t know how to answer Uraraka-chan this morning when she answered, so I just told her that they’re old and don’t hurt anymore.”

    Hizashi’s eyes became sad as he looked into the boy’s. Izuku looked down at his hands as he whispered his next words, “Do they ever stop hurting, Yamada-sensei? Will- will I ever be able to- to look in the mirror? With- without wanting to cover them up? Will I ever be able to- to talk in class and- and around teachers without- without thinking they’re going to lock me up again?”

    Although…some might question whether the ability to make any kind of food appear out of his hands is suitable for heroics.

    But ever since he made dozens of cream buns appear out of his hands as a four-year-old child, Izuku has learnt that heroism is not just beating up villains and looking good for the cameras.

    Seeing the plight of many people, including children, often going hungry because society, including heroes, has failed them in every sense of the word, Izuku sees it as his moral duty to ensure that no one goes through their days on empty stomachs.

    It may not be the traditional path to heroism, but in the eyes of the people he serves, Izuku is already more a hero than those who occupy the top rankings, or are glamorised on screens.

    And a certain rodent in the top heroics school in the country has begun to take notice.

    Izuku couldn't understand why he was alive. Why he was alive when, in all truth, he should have been dead. A tall building in the less populated part of town should have been a self-proclaiming death sentence.
    But he was alive.
    Villans found him before any hero did.
    He didn't seek ease or a family in the villains. He knew what they were, what he was, what he was doing. He knew it was wrong. But he couldn't seem to break away from it. And he couldn't fully mend with it either.
    All for One wants him out of the way. Not forever. Throwing away a machine you had built so precariously would be wasteful and abhorrent.
    Instead, he puts his little toy machine to work on a project All for One knows the thing will fail. A machine can only do as much as it was built for.
    Izuku was dead. He had died the moment his body hit the floor of the cracked urban cement.
    Midoriya only wonders if the heroes can find the mangled corpse of "Izuku Midorya".
