Back again at Durmstrang for a second year, Harriet is forced to contend with the mysterious Professor Bellum's combat detentions, to discover and learn the mystereries of Alchemy, and grow strong enough to finally chart her own path in the world.
But with so much to do, so little time to do it, and so much at stake if she fails, well... under enough pressure, anyone can break.

Summary
The Lower Alleys had always been a sort of in-between world. It existed just on the edge of reality—the Edge where London and the Faerie met. It was a place of danger and mischief, a world where one could lose themselves, if they weren’t careful enough not to break the rules—and the rules were never consistent. Lies and truths were equally dangerous there.
Harry knew it was the only place that could keep her save if the Ruse ever unraveled.
She gradually learns the ways of the Alleys and falls in love with the wild magic and beautiful chaos of the community there. When her new home is threatened and Harry has to face the Seelie Queen, she gathers friends from both worlds and the Edge between them and uses every trick she's learned to regain what's been taken from her, without losing herself to the Faerie realm. -
