Summary
Stede Bonnet leads a seemingly normal life—owner and head librarian at Bonnet’s Books, surrounded by employees-turned-friends—yet he harbors a very abnormal secret. There is a curse on his bloodline, one that caused him to be born as a sort of half-kraken creature. He conceals his true form through the use of magic, and while he can’t seem to find a permanent fix, it gets the job done! Mostly.
He’s long accepted the fact that there are some things he may never have. He’s treading water, and it’s all fine, truly it is, except then Edward Teach walks into his library, into his life, and Stede suddenly wonders if he might drown after all. Ed is charming, gorgeous, and kind, and he’s searching for a new direction in his life with a determination Stede wishes he had. He accepted his fate long ago, but Ed makes him wonder, what if it weren’t like this? And is it worth it to risk everything for a chance at a deeper connection he’s always yearned for?

“Actually, he left you all he had,” said Jeffrey.
Stede gasped. “Everything?”
“Yes. Well, everything for him wasn’t much,” Jeffrey said in an attempt to not get Stede’s hopes up too high. “Well, would you like to know what you’ve inherited?”
“Sure,” said Stede. “Lay it on me.”
“Congratulations, Stede. You’re now the proud owner of your very own farm!”

Summary
A Peter Pan book AU. Stede has been forced to grow up and put his childish dreams away, but one night he gets a mysterious visitor that brings it all back.
Stede is dreaming.
He rarely remembers his dreams; his father would say that he spends so much of his awake life dreaming that his sleeping mind has no need to provide more material. But sometimes, a dream breaks through. This time, he’s dreaming of Neverland. It’s an old favourite, and it used to feature more heavily in his dreams when he was a child. He used to be able to see it in great detail, back then. But the map of Neverland that he holds in his mind is locked away in that box, with his Belief, safe and secure, never to be looked at. He only has a dim recollection now. It’d sharpened into focus for a short while, when Alma had gone through her pirate phase a few years ago. But she, unlike her father, had done the proper thing and left it behind as she grew.
But tonight? Tonight it’s so clear that he can smell it. There’s brine, and gunpowder, and adventure.

Long ago, it was foretold that dragons would return to the tiny town of Wyrmville on June 11th. Many June 11ths have come and gone since then without so much as a sniff of the beasts, but this one is supposed to be different.
Sir Edward Teach of Wellington thinks that it's all a bunch of hooey, but he's so damn bored, he's willing to take the chance. After all, it would be very cool to be the first guy in centuries to slay a dragon. He didn't bargain on being slain himself (metaphorically speaking) by Stede, Wyrmville's restaurateur and amateur dragon aficionado.
This was for Day 6 of the "OFMD AuPril 2024 Promptfest". The prompts were "Alien, Medieval, Blogger/Vlogger".

“I just—” He takes a long, heavy breath and leans into Ed’s side, head tucked on his shoulder. “They’re practically my family, Ed. I don’t wanna lose them."
“I know,” Ed murmurs. “And I can’t promise they won’t be a little…surprised, at first. But it’s not because of us, yeah? It’s just a lot to take in. And they’re all so fucking weird, I’m sure they’ll be used to us in ten minutes flat.”
“I hope so.” Stede touches his foot to Ed’s, marveling for the millionth time that their bodies can be so different and yet create something so similar to walk on land. “I hope so.”

No, this man wasn’t a student. He would have remembered him. Blond wavy hair, hazel eyes, handsome face. Ed allowed his gaze to travel downwards. Nice suit. Really nice, actually. Ed wouldn’t mind betting that it had cost more than his Harley.
Never mind the suit. Check out those legs. Damn. “Can I help you?”.
“I hope so. You run a knitting class, correct?”.

Ed's a knitting instructor. Stede's in need of a knitting instructor, because his boyfriend's birthday is coming up, and he wants to gift him something special. Yes, I said "boyfriend". Uh-oh.
The title is a knitting pun, because I couldn't resist. Sorry! There will be two chapters. The second one is almost complete, so I'll be posting it in a day or two, life permitting.

Stede Bonnet dreamed of the sea. Literally. Every night he woke up between 3 and 4 in the morning with fragmented, wispy memories of rippling ocean, turquoise tropical shores, inky roiling waves. When he told Mary, she said he should probably get a sleep study, as he had always snored a bit too much, which seemed beside the point. When he told Lucius, Lucius had asked, “Sweetie, do you think you’re depressed?”
Lucius didn’t hide his skepticism at Stede’s suddenly chipper, “Oh no no no no no, heavens no, never felt better.” But he still went ahead and did some quick googling on his phone, coming up with, “Water symbolizes the need for emotional healing, the yearning to break free from life stressors, and immersion in the creative process.”
A modern AU featuring Artist Stede and Artist Ed, written for OFMD Au-pril 2024 Prompt Fest Day 26.

Summary
Everyone knows the fucking rule, nobody better than Ed: you find a weird bell, you don’t ding the weird bell.
Guess how many times Ed’s dinged the weird bell anyway. Yeah, Ed always dings the weird bell, it’s like a fucking compulsion, he just can’t not. Brain sees a bell, brain goes, what would happen if I dinged that?
Dinging occurs. Shit happens.

A 5 1 (or really a 1 5) in which innkeeper-era Ed and Stede discover a magic bell that can take them back in time to past moments in their relationship. They decide to seduce each other (and themselves) at different points to see if they can avert some of the pain they all went through. Things do not, of course, go as planned.

Summary
The current canvas she was working on almost did look like it had been painted with her eyes closed — all of Stede’s soft skin rendered with lighter, sketchier brushtrokes and no defined edges, the background and bedding done in loose and imprecise curves. It almost looked like a child had done it. That’s what the critics would say, anyway.
Ed wasn’t sure she wanted to let the critics have this one to pick over.

Somewhere else in the Greater Toronto Area, some guy's hosting a radio show for aliens. In trying to convince extraterrestrials of all that Earth has to offer, Signs of Life is also sort of showing Ed what's out there for him, if he’s ready to step back outside.

Just to be a bit of a tease, Ed grabbed the tea towel out of Stede’s hands, wound it around his wrists, and said jokingly “Now you’re my prisoner!”.
He’d expected Stede to giggle and flirt like he always did. Instead, all merriment left Stede’s face, and he went pale. “Take that off, please,” he said, in a flat expressionless voice that bore no resemblance to the man Ed adored.
“Love? What’s wrong? What did I do?”. Ed frantically removed the tea towel. “I was just being silly.”
“It’s nothing, Ed. I’m tired, that’s all.”

There's a secret that Stede's been keeping from Ed. A facet of himself that he's ashamed of, because he'd convinced it makes him some kind of monster. Ed knows better, and he's going to help the man he loves (while having a lot of fun in the process).
