Lights Camera Drarry 2024

"Lights, Camera, Drarry" (LCDrarry, LCD) is an anonymous prompt-based fest, where authors and artists create a piece that is inspired by or based on a film, a theatre play, a TV series/show, a podcast, an audioplay/drama or an audiobook. The main pairing for all submissions is Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter ("Drarry"). Participants can include any side-pairings, original characters or characters from the remixed works as long as the final submission is still a Drarry-centric piece.

All acceptable prompts will be added to the official prompt list (Airtable gallery) which will be updated regularly during the prompting period.

4. How closely do I need to follow the original source material?

You decide how much you want to follow the storyline of the original work: Is your work just inspired by the general idea of the original work? Are you borrowing the universe of the original work and creating your own story within this universe? Are you borrowing the plot idea and recreating it in the magical world? Are you maybe retelling the original story, but Harry and Draco are experiencing what’s happening in the original work without taking the place of the original main characters (who are also part of your story, maybe in the background)? You decide! Anything is possible. You can also just pick a scene that you like and use it as inspiration. There is no need to retell the complete story of the source material (prompt).

All films, theatre plays, TV series and shows as well as all podcasts, audiodramas/plays and audiobooks are acceptable prompts. Prompts from previous years are available to claim as well, so check our official prompt list before you prompt. You can prompt the same film, series, show or audio work a second (or third time etc.) if the existing prompts for this year don't fit your prompt ideas/wishes for this work. You can also "self-prompt" (= sign-up with your own prompt).

5. How do I submit my finished work?

If you do not have an AO3 account yet, please contact us as soon as possible, so that we can send you an AO3 invitation link.

First, post your beta'd, completed work to the LCDrarry2024 fest collection on AO3, choosing all appropriate tags and information. Ensure that the HTML coding (for italics, bold, centered etc.) is correct on your submission and add the AO3 mod account hd_lcdrarry_mod as a co-creator to your submission.

Once you have posted your submission to the collection on AO3, you will need to send your header information and the link to your submission on AO3 per email to [email protected] as follows:

To help us organizing everything, the subject line of your email when you submit your creation should read something like:
SUBMISSION - [ART/FIC/PODFIC] by [YOUR USERNAME] - [PROMPT #]

The Rules

1. Self-prompting is allowed. This means you can sign-up with your own prompt. Please keep it to yourself till claiming opens - and till reveals - (don't talk about your idea and don't submit it to the prompting form. When claiming opens, sign-up with your own prompt :)).

2. Each prompt can be claimed once for fic and once for art.

3. You can remix an entire work, part of a work or just be inspired by the work.

4. ALL creativity is welcome. Write, draw, craft, audio, video, podfic ... whatever you feel inspired to do.

5. ANY film, theatre play or TV series or show as well as any podcast, audioplay/drama or audiobook is allowed.

6. Collaborations are allowed. Please sign-up together and only submit one sign-up form per collaboration. Collaborations can be illustrated fics, fics with more than one author and/or more than one writer, comics created by more than one person, roleplay videos or gifs with several roleplayers, podfics with several readers etc.

7. We accept a very wide range of submissions:
- stories (at least 1000 words)
- art (traditional art, digital art, comics, animatics, crafting, vidding, roleplay ...)
- podfics (You need permission from the author of the story to podfic their work and the story needs to fit the scope of this fest. Please contact us by e-mail if you have any questions.)

8. We trust that you're 18 or older if you participate in this fest as a creator.

9. If you have any questions or are not sure if your idea fits into this fest, please message us at [email protected]

10. Prompts will be submitted through an Airtable form. You do not need an Airtable account to submit a prompt.

11. Anyone can submit a prompt. You do not need to prompt to claim. You do not need to claim to prompt. We will allow multiple prompts for the same film, theatre play, TV series/show, podcast, audioplay/drama or audiobook as long as the prompt details are different to each other.

12. You can only claim one prompt at a time. If you finish early and submit early, you can claim another prompt.

13. Submissions:
A. All submissions will exclusively be posted to our LCDrarry2024 fest collection on AO3 by the participants before the submission deadline (except if you were granted an extension).
B. If you do not have an AO3 account yet, please contact us as soon as possible, so that we can send you an AO3 invitation link.
C. Participants will need to add the AO3 mod account hd_lcdrarry_mod as a co-creator to their AO3 work. We need access to your work during the fest period to schedule the posting. We'll remove the mod account as co-creator on 15 June (reveals day).
D. The Collection for your submission is LCDrarry2024
E. All submissions must be complete (no WIPs) and unique to this fest.
F. All genres are welcome in this fest: angst, drama, flangst, fluff, humour, hurt/comfort, romance etc.
G. Submissions must be beta-read (or beta-listened etc.). The mods reserve the right to proof submissions and return them to the creator if they need a closer look. If you do not have a beta reader, please contact us by email and we can give you information on how to find someone.
H. Once you've submitted your work to the AO3 collection, please fill out the submission header and send it to [email protected]. We'll use the submission header when posting about your work on tumblr. You can find the submission header at the end of the FAQ section.

14. Anonymity during the Fest
LCDrarry is an anonymous prompt-based fest run on AO3 (additional platforms are tumblr, LJ, and the Drarry Discord 18 ).

Please do not tell anyone except your alpha and beta reader(s) details about your story/art/podfic. Do not post extracts or previews anywhere before the official reveal (15 June). Once the creators are revealed on the big Reveals day, you can post your creation on other platforms and talk about it everywhere.

You can answer comments on your anonymous AO3 work during the fest if you want to do so, because AO3 will keep your username hidden in the answers and only reveal it once the work is not anonymous anymore. But please do not reveal yourself through your comments. We recommend waiting for reveals before you answer the comments, like this you can squee freely. This is also a chance for the readers leaving comments to check out your other works when they see your username after reveals day.

If you are creating a video or sound file (podfic, animatics, roleplay etc.), you can host it on your Youtube channel or any other video or sound platform and embed a link in your AO3 submission. But the video or sound file needs to stay private (only accessible if you have the link) on Youtube or the alternative platform until Reveals.

To prevent art theft, artists (including podficcers, vidders, roleplayers etc.) have the option to post signed and/or watermarked artwork (videos, gifs, etc.) to the AO3 collection. Your choice of prompt still needs to stay anonymous till your creation posts officially in the fest. Despite the signature, please treat your submission like an anonymous submission and do not hype or share your work anywhere before Reveals, officially you are an anonymous creator till Reveals.

15. Extensions and Dropping Out
If you think, you’ll need an extension, please message us as soon as possible by email (and not only on the day when submissions are due). We mods try to turn this fest into a great experience for everybody, so please give us the possibility to plan our schedules. Last minute panics are very bad for everybody’s heart rate.

Please let us know if you have to drop out of the fest. We will not be upset, you will not be banned from future fests; we just need to know ASAP so that the fest will run smoothly for everybody! Thank you!

16. Since early 2022, we've had a fest discord for our participants. Joining the discord is optional.
LCDrarry Fest Discord (everyone is welcome! participants and readers)

17. Communication
Please use the fest email exclusively to communicate with the mods:
[email protected]

General questions can also be asked on tumblr (ask), but please do not send any direct messages on the different platforms.

Thank you!! <3
