    Katsuki’s heartbeat thundered in his ears; there was a pair of high-pitched warbles that shattered the air. Young, effervescent voices crying out into the dark. By the shouts and jeers from the rest of the crew, Katsuki knew it wasn’t a school of mackerel flailing within their fibers.
    His whole body froze, muscles locking as the unfamiliar sound of a captured mer drowned out the crew’s shouting. He barely registered what they were saying, hoping he could still save the mer before it was too late.

    Bakugou Katsuki is an expert on mer and he's sworn to protect them from pirates and poachers. He joins a pirate crew to sabotage their hunt and comes across the most beautiful mer he'd ever seen. He's forced to drastic measures to protect Deku, even at the cost of his own life.

Eventually they’d get a place far away from the city, a beach house somewhere to retire together. Spend their time in some fucking boring old person way until they died.

    Katsuki is a retired Army Ranger turned Firefighter. Shouto used to strip to pay for his veterinarian school. Izuku did underground boxing with Ochako to pay for their schooling. Ochako is a vet-tech. Eri is the sweetest little secretary. Sero definitely has a side business with grass clippings. Mina is an exotic dancer. Eijiro is also a firefighter.

    Izuku got Katsuki’s soul mark when he was four. Katsuki didn’t get Izuku’s mark until they were in high school, and it threw a wrench into the delicate relationship they’d formed as rivals.

    Izuku squeezes the man's arm harder, nails practically cracking through his skin. He whispers, "because I'm a total loser who's going to die alone."

    The pretty stranger guzzles down his own drink before sliding the empty glass back to the bartender. "Fine. Come with me," he orders without an ounce of hesitation.

    "Okay." The stranger stands up and heads for the door. Izuku follows.

    Izuku is a total romantic. The problem is, every relationship he’s been in has left Izuku utterly heartbroken. When these break ups threaten Izuku’s mental health, productivity, and impulsivity on a grander scale, his best friend/therapist Ochako instills a twelve month heart lockdown, in which Izuku doesn’t date anyone for a whole year.

    The goal is to let Izuku focus on his own worth instead of the love from others. It starts off perfectly fine - that is, until Izuku has a one-night-stand with Katsuki, his apartment building neighbor.
