Summary
Buck almost felt like he should be grateful.
He wasn’t the first person for it to happen to. And a lot of the stories he had heard about those first people were far worse.
Horror stories had plagued the news of people blacking out and waking up on a cold metal table. They were poked and prodded and cut into. The pain, they said, was unimaginable.
Then, they would wake up in their beds. Traumatized.
And pregnant with their own clone.
OR: Aliens abduct and impregnate Buck, and his family helps him through it—Eddie most of all.

Summary
Eddie careens into the open space of the waiting room, his center of gravity completely thrown off. Someone catches him around the arms and chest as he narrowly makes a nose dive towards the floor, and Eddie looks up to find his captain and Buck staring down at him warily.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Bobby asks. “Are you okay?”
He can’t remember ever having the wind knocked out of him like this. Eddie’s legs are shaky and his chest is going numb; it takes all of his strength to keep his hold on Bobby and Buck. He pants ridiculously, hyper-focusing on each inhale to ensure that the next one will come. He begins to wheeze, horrified to find that no matter what he tries, he can’t catch his breath.
His heart, it… it feels wrong.
OR
Eddie gets hurt by a patient on a call, Buck doesn't handle it well, and Eddie tries to figure out why his partner is hiding from him.

Summary
Buck isn't squeamish—he's been a first responder for way too long for that. He's familiar with the brutal mechanics of how a human body can fail and bleed and fall apart, how easily people break. How sometimes the things you need to do to keep them breathing aren't pretty.

Summary
There is a half hour until the ceremony is officially slated to start, but people are already milling around, chatting. Someone decided to play some upbeat classical music over the church’s loudspeakers, and it somehow makes everything in the room brighten up just a little.
Buck wants to throw up in the font of holy water. -

Summary
Fine. Eddie is obviously intent on having this conversation. That doesn’t mean Buck has to be compliant with it. “I don’t want that.”
“Yes, you do.” Eddie pauses so he can shift up in the bed just the tiniest bit more. “Buck, you need a partner. You need someone who’s there for you as much as you are for them. And being a single dad is so different from co-parenting. Don’t try to say that isn’t what we’ve been doing, because it is. You’ve been co-parenting Chris for years. And I’m sorry I might not be there to do it with you anymore.”
“STOP.” Buck doesn’t yell very often, but he can’t contain his knee-jerk reaction to hearing Eddie admit defeat. He takes a deep breath and looks at Eddie’s face, full of understanding and sorrow. “Please, stop. I can’t. Eddie, I can’t listen to you talk like that.”
OR: Eddie comes down with an unknown illness. Buck tries his best to cope and take care of Chris, while also wondering if he might lose Eddie before he's told him how he feels.

Summary
Tears were streaming down his face without his control, and Buck let them. He allowed himself this moment to break like a year ago when he first realized why this day every year in his family was such a way it was. Why did Buck always feel empty and sad, why did he hear how Maddie and mother and even father cried. Why his parents were especially absent on that day.
The answer is: that day is forever recorded as Daniel's birthday, but he had too little of them.
He cried and cried until the candles were about half the size, then Buck blew them out, but before doing that, he looked up and said.
“I’m sorry. I'm so sorry. You should have more time. We should have more time. I wish I could help you, big brother.”Or, for three years Buck deals with grief of loosing Daniel alone at Daniel's birthday, and fourth time he is not alone anymore.
