Summary
Esteemed members of the Ton,
It seems we have a rather special announcement. This author has been reliably informed that Viscount Gregory Lestrade shall dominate the winter social season in search of a suitable spouse. What’s more, the Viscount has eschewed the family tradition of marrying for love and instead intends a practical approach.
No doubt the finest tutors, modistes, and tailors are overrun by marriage-minded parents eager to ensure their eligibles are victorious. It begs the question: when things inevitably reach fever pitch, will anyone recall, much less be concerned about, the Viscount’s many years as a Capital R Rake? And what of the guests Lady Danbury is sponsoring for the season? I understand the youngest, Mr. Sherlock Holmes, son of Lady Sara Beaumont Holmes, has also entered his debut season, guided by older brother Mr. Mycroft Holmes. The poor creatures have no idea of the bloodbath they are walking into.
Gentle reader, be assured that I have purchased more ink and stand ready to report on the Viscount’s activities, romantic and otherwise.
Yours truly,
Lady Whistledown -
