June 5, World Environment Day This year’s theme is “Land restoration, desertification & drought resilience” and at Sadesa, we are proud to say that we source our hides from bovine cattle that are raised for food in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, that have been freely bred in the country side, free of anabolic and steroids, grass-fed on natural pampas, from fields not previously deforested for this purpose. LEATHER IS A NATURAL BY-PRODUCT Modern leather manufacturing recycles over 270 million cow hides each year. These are a by-product of the food industry and without the ability of the leather industry to transform them into leather, over 7 million tonnes would go to landfill with huge environmental and biological impact. We’re thrilled to announce our upcoming facility in Vietnam’s PM3 Industrial Park, set to start operations by late 2024.   With a $20M investment, we’re building a LEED-gold certified plant focused on producing 1.5M sqft of athletic leather monthly.   Sustainability is key: featuring 4700m2 of solar panels providing 1 MW of energy, 1000m2 of green walls, and 50% water recycling.
