Yesterday I had the opportunity to present Mamaland RARE System at the Angolan pavilion at #COP28. As important as showing our work, it was getting to know other projects, such as Otchiva_Mangais_Angola, or the ambitious 100,000 hectare reforestation project that Duarte and the Angolan Armed Forces are implementing at a great pace. Our presentation is now available for a closer reading.

Such a good day at #COP28 First I would like to thank Responding to Climate Change - RTCC for the opportunity to talk about Mamaland. I discuss with fantastic guests who are using technology to solve the challenges that climate change causes. We talk above all about people, those who are affected and those who can contribute. Here is a short video of my intervention.

These lush ecosystems act as nature's carbon warriors, capturing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Here's why Rainforests are crucial in our fight against climate change: Carbon Storage Giants: Rainforests are among the richest carbon storehouses on our planet. Towering trees and dense vegetation lock away carbon, acting as a buffer against rising CO2 levels. Global Carbon Balance: They aren't just local treasures; rainforests globally offset human carbon emissions, helping to stabilize our climate. Biodiversity Guardians: Biodiversity thrives in these ecosystems, creating a web of life that supports their mission. Preserving rainforests means safeguarding this diversity. Water Cycle Stewards: Rainforests also regulate our planet's water cycle, ensuring they have the resources needed to continue their carbon sequestration work. Climate Stability: By sequestering carbon, rainforests play a pivotal role in climate stability, protecting us from the storms of climate change. Let's protect these invaluable ecosystems. Together, we can secure a greener, more sustainable future for all. Mamaland | MEXT: | Mota-Engil 🌳 #ClimateAction #RainforestConservation #CarbonSequestration 🌳

The science is clear – the world is in a state of climate emergency & time is running out. Humanity’s burning of fossil fuels has emitted enough greenhouse gases to significantly alter the composition of the atmosphere and average global temperature has risen between 1.1 and 1.2°C compared to pre-industrial times. This alarming trend has led to alarming consequences, ranging from devastating wildfires to the bleaching of precious coral reefs. UNEP stands at the core of #ClimateAction efforts to reduce emissions, contribute to climate adaptation, create jobs, and restore the natural environment. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dXK8Ayv3
