January has now come to an end. We would like to extend a warm thank you, to all of you who have committed and contributed with time and energy to support the poorest in the Afghan rural areas this past year. SCA has, in close collaboration with the local population, supported the civilian population by delivering physiotherapy, rehabilitation, mobility and aid, education, healthcare, maternal health care, and rural development. We hope to continue with this important support and efforts in 2024 as well. Jamaludin, 11, tests and practices walking with his new protests at the rehabilitation center in Mazar-e Sharif. He is in the fourth grade and is from Feyzabad, a district in the province of Jowzjan. Jamaludin had to be amputated due to a severe burn in his childhood. He is hopeful with his new prostheses as he can walk independently and comfortably. The goal is for Jamaludin to go and live as normal a life as possible and become as independent as possible. A positive – and necessary – announcement from the UN, that Afghan women and civil society will be part of the upcoming Doha meeting. Women must be granted meaningful participation in discussions about the future of their country.

The talk takes place between 13:45-14:15 in Internationella Rummet, Stadshallen, as part of our Human Rights Festival organised by Raoul Wallenberg Institute and Altitude Meetings.
