Early childhood care is crucial for children’s brain development, influencing cognitive, social, and emotional skills. 1,101 children are learning and growing at 22 Early Childhood Care Centres in northern Afghanistan through our Sponsorship programme. These centres are helping children aged 6 years old developing essential skills as they get ready for school. #ECCD #ChildDevelopment #Education #EarlyChildhoodCare #SavetheChildren

در باره ما
Save the Children in Afghanistan is working, more than ever, to fulfill its promise to transform the lives of children and families, especially the most vulnerable and marginalized. Since 1976, we have been providing Education, Health and Nutrition, Child Protection, Child Poverty, and Emergency Response support to Afghan children and their families. The past several years have been extremely challenging for the people of Afghanistan. Already suffering from decades of conflict and instability, families are experiencing extreme hunger, repeated disease outbreaks, and the devastating impacts of climate change and drought on a scale the country has never seen before. In 2023, Afghanistan is experiencing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world. We face new challenges as we look forward to serving even more children. We advocate for positive change in the policies and practices that impact children’s lives to ensure they can survive, learn, and be protected. We work to fulfill Afghan children’s rights and make their voices heard locally, nationally, and globally.

The recent improvements and rehabilitation of 8 schools in Eastern Afghanistan have created a more conducive learning environment, helping students focus, stay healthy, and feel safe. Enhancements include replacing old doors and windows, repairing floors and ceilings, upgrading sanitation facilities, installing fences, and repairing staircases. Education is a lifeline for children, and we are committed to ensuring children are provided with access to education in a safe environment. Thanks to the European Union for supporting the Afghan children. #SavetheChildren #EUHumanitarianAid #EUCivilProtection #EuropeanUnion #QualityEducation #SaferSchool #SchoolRehabilitation

Save the Children, with generous support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), has initiated an impactful program to enhance educational resources for children in communities with limited access to quality education. Through this initiative, we have distributed hundreds of student kits, hygiene kits, textbooks, teacher kits, and classroom kits. These thoughtfully assembled resources are designed to cater to the diverse needs of students and teachers, fostering an enriched learning environment and supporting the overall educational experience. #SavetheChildren #BMZ #EducationForAll #QualityEducation #StudentSupport #TeacherResources #LearningResources #HygieneAndEducation #SupportEducation

3,598 children in Faryab province will now receive quality education thanks to Education Cannot Wait (ECW) and Save the Children International’s initiative to establish 106 Community-Based Education (CBE) classes. Our partner organisation, Just for Afghan Capacity and Knowledge (JACK), is implementing this transformative programme, ensuring access to education for boys and girls alike. Maria*, an 8-year-old student enrolled in this programme, shares her joy: "I'm very happy that many children in our village can now go to a nearby class. We love our class and teacher so much that we’ve all prepared uniforms to look different from the other girls. I eagerly attend class every day to meet my friends, read my books, and improve." #Impact #SavetheChildren #EducationCannotWait #CommunityEducation #Faryab #Afghanistan #EducationForAll #BuildingFutures

“In future, I want to be a doctor. Our village is very big, and there is no good doctor here. Community members travel to the center, which is three hours away by car for treatment. I want to treat them by being a good doctor.” - Jawid*, 11 See the world through Jawid’s* eyes as he captures life in his Northern Afghanistan village. Enrolled in Save the Children programs, Jawid and his friends share their favourite moments and daily adventures.
