In my opinion it is important to make every member understand their role in the assigned project. Any form of communication will not be effective if a member in the team does not know his role. Once everyone is aware of their role there has to be constant check on the milestones achieved. Every small progress has to be announced and celebrated. Every small hindrance has to be dealt in a timely manner. Team should have necessary tools to perform the task. They have to be motivated regularly and everyone should be aware of common goal they wish to achieve as a team.

To turn things around when the team is underperforming, it is important to: 1. Look back- What were the instructions given, goals set, tools & resources available for team performance? 2. Is the direction not right? Is the energy of team not channelized in the right direction? Do we need a new leader here? 3. Conversation-Important to have conversation with different colleagues to understand the environment. This will help us reboot the environment. Assess the feedback received. 4. Management decisions- Leaders will need to assess if any particular decision taken by them has hurt the morale of the team. If yes, what can be changed to improve the productivity. 5. Micromanagement- Avoid mirco-managing at all cost. Instead offer coaching.

To prioritize our goals, we should identify what tasks are urgent, necessary, important and what can be put at later stage. Alongside identifying goals, we have put time frame within which we need to achieve these goals. Many a times we get over ambitious and forget to keep some buffer time and how often we have made this mistake. It is advisable to pen down the status of your goals to achieve on a daily basis and review its progress. Once we start reviewing, we can regulate our effort as there will be certain on day tasks that find its way to you that may distract you. Consider company's goals as well and identify your goals that align with your company's goals.

How do we measure trust? Is there a data to support like we can measure profit, customer satisfaction, growth? I doubt. Said that, trust is most important human skill to develop. As a new manager it is recommended that the manager spends time in knowing their team members, be transparent and is accountable for everything that happens in the team. Shared values, connection and goals will be bring the team together for the unbreakable bond. As a new manager, one of the better way to gain trust of the team is to solve long pending problem which acts as a hurdle in team's growth and success. Once this is done, team members will look forward to working with the new manager with trust and appreciation as well.

Firstly we need to identify if the practice of identifying top talents in the organization exists or not. Secondly, a comprehensive training program needs to be curated for the identified talents. Thirdly, we need to assess if these colleagues are exhibiting company's value, mission, etc. It is important that the top talents get right tools during the training period to grow and develop as a leader. Since leadership is more about responsibility than a position HR has to ensure they are empathetic towards the feedback they received and solve them in the interest of the company and the employees. This also calls for a healthy work environment where top talents are supported by fellow colleagues to grow as a leader.

It is important you are friendly, approachable & professional who can make contribution & make relevant contribution. 3. If it is not networking, it is not working- meaning cordial relationships in workplace is of utmost importance. 4. Showcase value-How do you add value to the team? Be it through your knowledge, expertise, experience or your responsibilities. 5. Engaging conversation-Important to have both candid and engaging conversation with your team. Such conversation shows that teams trust you & you are professionally invested in their career journey.
