Official Announcement: 50 Lines of HUBER Sludge Turner SOLSTICE® for Sewage Treatment Plant Manfouha in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia HUBER SE has won the first of 3 major projects in the field of solar sewage sludge drying in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh. Our long-standing customer Alkhorayef Water & Power Technologies (AWPT) has placed an order for the supply of 50 lines of HUBER Sludge Turner SOLSTICE®. This solar sludge drying solution includes the automatic feeding with the help of HUBER Screw Conveyors with a total length of approx. 900 meters. The plant constructor Alkhorayef Water & Power will operate the Manfouha wastewater treatment plant for a period of 15 years and expand it with various process steps such as solar sewage sludge drying, increasing sludge dryness from 22% to 75% with a capacity of over 850 tons/day. This development marks a significant step towards a more sustainable, eco-friendly process. The new Manfouha sludge drying plant is considered the largest sludge dryer in the entire region and will be among the largest in the world. After the Bahr El-Baqar plant (Egypt), Manfouha will probably be the world's second largest plant for solar sewage sludge drying. For Bahr El-Baqar, HUBER had delivered 128 Sludge Turners SOLSTICE® and 64 Screw Conveyors Ro8 T. Successful Lifting of the 3 HUBER Disc Dryers RotaDry® for Germany's Largest Sewage Sludge Treatment Plant VERA Hamburg 🏗 The 3 HUBER Disc Dryers RotaDry® for Germany's largest sewage sludge treatment plant VERA in Hamburg were successfully lifted into position. With around 70 tons per dryer, the heaviest single lifts of the construction site took place last week. Accordingly, the process was closely monitored by everyone involved. Thanks to the perfect preparation of the operation, the dryers were brought into position in the shortest possible time. HUBER would like to thank everyone involved for the excellent cooperation. Since 1997, HAMBURG WASSER has been operating VERA in the port of Hamburg, one of the oldest and probably best-known sewage sludge treatment plants in Germany. The extension will increase the capacity of the VERA recycling plant by around 50 percent. The expansion will increase the annual throughput of sewage sludge at the plant to around 76,000 tons of dry matter – with further expansion potential to 97,000 tons per year. In the course of the expansion of the VERA plant, HUBER had secured the order for the supply of 3 Disc Dryers RotaDry®. At an Altitude of over 2,400 Meters: HUBER Global Service Assignment for the German Alpine Association in Austria 🚁🏔️🔧 Our service technician Herbert recently went on a very special trip to Austria for HUBER Global Service. In cooperation with the German Alpine Association (DAV), the wastewater treatment facilities at the Bremer Hütte mountain hut were serviced and optimized. A mission that will probably remain in his memory forever. Herbert was taken by helicopter to the mountain hut in the Alps at an altitude of over 2,400 meters. Once at the hut, he serviced the plant and optimized our HUBER Micro Strainer ROTAMAT® Ro9. The repair went without any problems and was successfully completed on the same day. Our service technicians experience new challenges every day and work in some of the most beautiful places in the world. International Sales Training at HUBER 🌐🌊 This week we are organizing an International Sales Training at our Berching headquarters. We welcome colleagues from Europe, North and South America and Asia to our site to get to know each other personally and to further promote global exchange within the HUBER Group. The event began on Monday morning with a welcoming address by our Chief Sales Officer Rainer Köhler and Head of Sales Franz Heindl. During break-out sessions, the teams are immersing themselves in a training program on various product areas, such as mechanical treatment, sludge treatment and industry. HUBER Multi-Rake Bar Screen RakeMax® J and Screenings Wash Press WAP®: Gernsheim Wastewater Treatment Plant in Hesse Opts for a New HUBER Mechanical Pre-treatment System The town of Gernsheim in Hesse (Germany), with a population of 11,000, has been operating its own wastewater treatment plant since 1966. The WWTP comprises around 57 km of sewer network as well as 29 wastewater pumping stations and 8 rainwater treatment plants. The five rainwater treatment plants are facilities with very large and predominantly underground basins for the retention and/or treatment of rainwater. They are equipped with high-quality technology and electrotechnical systems. The volume of the rainwater retention basin alone has a capacity of 3,150 m³. Over 1 million m³ of wastewater flows through the treatment plant every year, with a maximum flow rate of 154 l/s. We have supplied a HUBER Multi-Rake Bar Screen RakeMax® J, a HUBER Screenings Wash Press WAP® 4 and the electrical switchgear and control system to modernize the mechanical pre-treatment system. After one and a half days of installation and commissioning, the machine was started up and shortly afterwards accepted – by a highly satisfied customer. Project Update: Sewage Treatment Plant Buraydah-2, Saudi Arabia – Solar Drying with 7 Lines of HUBER Sludge Turner SOLSTICE® Exciting news from Saudi Arabia: The new Buraydah-2 wastewater treatment plant will be equipped with a solar sewage sludge drying system with 7 lines of our Sludge Turner SOLSTICE®. The plant in the capital of al-Qasim province, about 300 km northwest of the capital Riyadh, will treat 150,000 m3/day of wastewater and is located in rural areas in the center of the country. ▪ Throughput: 32,560 t/a ▪ Dryer area: 10,640 m² (greenhouse: 7 x 12 x 148 m) ▪ TR input: approx. 20 % ▪ TR output: ≥ 90 % Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 places a particular focus on optimizing the use of renewable water resources for agriculture and improving the efficiency of municipal and agricultural water consumption. This includes the recycling of wastewater for agriculture and the treatment and reuse of sewage sludge for agricultural use as fertilizer. Based on this premise, we have already won four solar dryer projects with a total of 23 lines of HUBER Sludge Turner SOLSTICE® in the past three years. HUBER Apprentice Project: Production of Components for our Exhibition Models 👨🏭 Our cross-departmental apprentice project has reached the next milestone: Apprentices from the industrial-technical sector design and manufacture exhibition models of HUBER Safe Access Solutions products such as pressure-tight doors. The aim of the project phase now implemented was to manufacture and weld the mechanical components for a HUBER Pressure-tight door. Prior to this, the production had to be planned, including the selection of suitable production processes, machines and tools. Once the parts had been manufactured, our team carried out a joint quality check. The parts then went to the body shell production area, where our trainees Kilian and Felix welded them together and had them approved by trainer Sebastian. After successful welding, the pressure-tight door naturally goes into our full-bath pickling bath – for the best passivation and corrosion protection! The HUBER Disc Filter RoDisc® Convinces in Norway: Highest Treatment Performance as a Replacement for a Secondary Clarifier 🌊 One of the product managers from our HUBER Technology Center has just returned from an exciting business trip to Norway. He brought some nice photos of our installed systems – and the applications there are quite interesting: In this project shown here, 4 HUBER Disc Filters RoDisc® 2200 are installed as replacement of the secondary clarifier on a wastewater treatment plant with 125,000 population equivalents. The plant uses the Hias® Moving Bed Biological Reactor (MBBR) process with minimum plant foot-print. The objectives of this process: ▪ Compliance with the highest standards of treatment performance ▪ Avoidance of precipitants for phosphate reduction as far as possible ▪ Examination of the sewage sludge and agricultural use with regard to the Fertilizer Ordinance ▪ By dispensing with precipitants, the phosphorus remains biologically available ▪ Minimal space requirement: 50% space saving compared to conventional activated sludge processes, the entire plant technology is covered in several halls 💡 The HUBER Disc Filter RoDisc® is a micro screen with rotary mesh for reliable removal of fine suspended solids.
