Check out the impressive spotlight on Secil Torun, Vice President of Engineering and Technical Project Management at ENGIE's Asia-Middle East-Africa, highlighted by the Clean Energy Business Council MENA.
🌟 As we continue our week-long celebration at CEBC honoring exceptional women engineers, today we shine a spotlight on Secil Torun from ENGIE for her outstanding contributions to the energy sector. Secil Torun joined ENGIE in 1997 and has held various positions related to natural gas infrastructures, including transmission pipelines and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Currently serving as Vice President - Engineering and Technical Project Management for ENGIE’s Asia-Middle East-Africa (AMEA) office, she focuses on developing hydrogen and power-to-X projects. Her previous role as the Hydrogen lab team leader at ENGIE Lab CRIGEN involved supervising research activities and coordinating R&D developments along the hydrogen chain. Secil has participated in over 12 European collaborative projects, showcasing her commitment to innovation and sustainability. Secil’s journey in engineering was inspired by her curiosity and passion for mathematics, physics, and chemistry. She finds the most rewarding aspect of her career to be her current work in hydrogen innovation, particularly at CRIGEN, where her team built a H2 factory with an electrolyser and multiple pilots to test solutions for clients. Her new challenge involves leading a renewable hydrogen to ammonia project in Oman to success. Reflecting on the evolving future for women in engineering, Secil notes significant progress with more women embracing this career path and thriving in engineering roles. She advises young women to be curious, believe in themselves, and join the exciting world of engineering, which offers diverse opportunities and the chance to contribute actively to addressing climate change and energy transition challenges. 🔧 Secil’s achievements in the engineering field highlight the importance of innovation and perseverance. As we celebrate her success, let’s continue to support and encourage more women to enter and excel in the engineering profession, shaping a brighter and more sustainable future! #CEBC #ENGIE #WomenInEngineering #INWED #EngineeringExcellence #DiversityInSTEM Women's Engineering Society
