Dubai's GDP tops AED 115 billion in first quarter of 2024, with its economy growing 3.2% compared to the same period in 2023. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, reiterated that the emirate’s economy continues to grow steadily and showcase robust economic indicators that exemplify the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. Dubai has been named TikTok’s most popular city destination for the second consecutive year, with over 30 million posts on the video-sharing platform. This is according to the 2024 Social Travel Index study by Titan Travel. Dubai is also the most searched for city on Google, with 116,400 searches. Dubai has also recorded the biggest increase in Instagram posts of over 11% in the last year. Dubai was tagged on Instagram more than 111 million times in 2023 and this figure rose to almost 124 million times a year later. Dubai Premier Padel P1, part of the newly unified 25-tournament season spanning 18 countries across five continents, will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. The event will take place at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium during November and will feature the world’s best players. This is the first time Dubai Premier Padel P1 will be held in Dubai, following a multi-year hosting agreement between the UAE Padel Association (UAEPA), the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), Dubai Sports Council (DSC), Premier Padel, and Dubai-based Gallop Global. Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade (DCCPFT), a part of Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), has organised a series of awareness workshops as part of the Safe Tourism Awareness Programme. During H1 2024, 832 employees across 26 prominent Dubai’s hotels and touristic destinations participated in these workshops, with more scheduled for the remainder of the year. Organised in collaboration with Dubai Tourist Police Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation (CID), Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Municipality and the Directorate General Of Civil Defense Dubai, these workshops are designed to enhance Dubai’s status as one of the world’s safest cities. Dubai is set to establish the world's largest food trading logistics center, as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Ruler of Dubai, announced the creation of the Logistics Hub for Foodstuffs, Fruit, and Vegetable Trade. The agreement was signed between Dubai Municipality and DP World to double the current size of the fruit and vegetable market, which DP World will develop and manage, connecting it to international markets. This initiative supports Dubai's strategic goals to boost investment and economic opportunities, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
