Accelarating Middle East Towards A NetZero2050 Roadmap

Dubai Renewable Energy Group, launched by Dubai Chamber of Commerce in Dubai, UAE. Our mission is to drive the adoption of renewable energy among businesses and the private sector, in alignment with the country's Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai's Clean Energy Strategy. With the upcoming COP28 conference, we aim to support and accelerate Dubai's energy transition, making the emirate a hub for the green economy. Led by Maha AlGargawi, Executive Director of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, With the support of industry leaders LK Verma, Managing Director at Powernsun, and Simon Brennan, General Manager at Al Shirawi Solar, our members will play a pivotal role in supporting the UAE's clean energy ambitions. The UAE has made significant progress in reducing its reliance on oil, with the share of oil in the country's GDP decreasing from 43% in 2001 to 27% in 2021. The UAE Energy Strategy 2050 aims to further reduce the carbon footprint of power generation by 70%, improve energy efficiency by 40%, increase the contribution of clean energy from 25% to 50%, and save AED700 billion. To meet these goals, the UAE Government plans to invest AED600 billion in renewable energy by 2050. Dubai's Clean Energy Strategy, launched in 2015, aims to produce 75% of the city's energy demand from clean sources by 2050. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is a significant solar energy project in Dubai, with a production capacity expected to reach 5,000 MWh by 2030.
