[issue]: PikaOS ISO not booting via ventoy only. #3028
Comments
I am facing the same issue with Ventoy 1.0.99 and the latest PikaOS KDE Edition. I tried both GPT and MBR modes but was still unable to go past the boot screen. When I select PikaOS, it displays the manufacturer logo and stops there. However, I can boot into PikaOS if I use the latest Rufus to flash the ISO. |
is [PikaOS Linux | PikaOS Linux] the wrong website for it? the images don't match the size from from the cdn page and that iso download links page? GNOME Nvidia Edition 2.866GB KDE Nvidia Edition 3.162GB these two below are closer to 4GB in size below I am downloading them now, since the above images, don't boot in rufus or fedora media writer, they seem to be missing the bootloader on the above images. the above images seem to be fake or incomplete. I am hoping the below ones are correct, since I even tried Universal-USB-Installer-2.0.2.5 which handles the opensuse images just fine, again I am not sure the above website is its offical homepage or not, or if I had fallen today for a fake linux distro home page? I found the below images linked to a github page. as you notice something is not right with the above files, again they seem to be not the full working images, or thats just a mistake or error from the person who had uploaded them if the above website is there homepage. The website is the correct place to get our ISOs from, it will always link to the latest stable release, these are the ones from the cdn url. The others you linked are alpha releases from august only available on our iso archive. The github has also been deprecated as we have moved to a self hosted gitea instance so is not the correct place to go. I can assure you the top ISOs do boot just fine and do contain a bootloader, they are however UEFI only and also require secure boot to be off. Also as mentioned in the OP they do not work with ventoy currently. |

What happened?
Since we switched PikaOS ISO over to Debian and Debian Liveboot instead of Ubuntu as casper we have been unable to boot via ventoy.
We just get ""unable to find a medium containing a live filesystem" from Debian Liveboot which suggests something is not getting mounted correctly.
There are zero issues when flashing directly to USB and not using Ventoy. Our ISOs are UEFI only so should be pretty easy for anything to load.
Could we please get some support to fix/investigate this? We would like to support Ventoy but given our ISO is a standard ISO written via Xorisso etc we are at a loss as to what to do to fix.
