For the record, got a first "bug report" over email where IQSS failed for someone ... who didn't read the README and did not have Libertinus installed. |
Yes, I've also had people reporting the same issue. I'm working on making
Libertinus optional now.

I poked at tex.stackexchange.com to see if one could test "presence or absence of font" but it seems less than straightforward. Ideally we would go into a "yes ... but" mode also informing people that they should install the font. |
There is code for checking for the availability of fonts in the metropolis theme. I'm trying to decide whether to copy it or just depend on the metropolis theme. |
Oh, nice. I am sure we can borrow that with credit. But when you say 'depend on the metropolis theme' you don't mean to switch whole-hog, right? I quite like Libertinus. But maybe Fira or others as fallbacks? Over here (as opposed to the plain latex side) it is also easy to make fonts options in yaml header. |
