In no particular order, and in comparison to the demo.tex-based demo.pdf of the LaTeX variant:

  • Libertinus font requirement currently a hard constraint, might be nicer to make it soft ie warn but proceed rather than fail
  • Title changed to not be on dark background, could make that a toggle in YAML header
  • Table of content line and paragraph breaks look different
  • Need to find a trick to do the \item[] placement in one of the examples
  • Make the header.png file an option for the YAML header

For the record, got a first "bug report" over email where IQSS failed for someone ... who didn't read the README and did not have Libertinus installed.

I poked at tex.stackexchange.com to see if one could test "presence or absence of font" but it seems less than straightforward. Ideally we would go into a "yes ... but" mode also informing people that they should install the font.

There is code for checking for the availability of fonts in the metropolis theme. I'm trying to decide whether to copy it or just depend on the metropolis theme.

Oh, nice. I am sure we can borrow that with credit.

But when you say 'depend on the metropolis theme' you don't mean to switch whole-hog, right? I quite like Libertinus. But maybe Fira or others as fallbacks?

Over here (as opposed to the plain latex side) it is also easy to make fonts options in yaml header.
