There are no plans to continue to evolve this extension. Consider moving to VSCode embedded link validation for local link validation and to blackmist.LinkCheckMD for external link validation.

Originally VSCode had really poor tooling for markdown links, so md-link-checker was created. But in half a year after its creation VSCode starts to support validation and then more and more markdown tools. So now there is no niche for md-link-checker extension.
