Truncate file volume while first storage device is in use #2053

I have a file storage with 10 devices, but if a job is using the first device I can't truncate or label other volumes in that storage. Is this by design or possibly a missing feature?

You can setup your autochanger with a drive 0 that is setup with "autoselect = no" which let it available for all those kind of administrative work, truncate, label, but also restore while all others are busy with backup task.

You might want to have a look at

What wonder me in your case it that the same drive is called when using drive=2 which should have lead to the use of FileStorageConsolidated3

Maybe you have an issue with drive index ?

Thanks, Bruno. We're not currently using an autochanger configuration, so I'll have to do some reading/testing before we implement that. Because of this, I think we currently have no drive indexes set at all, so it would make sense that truncate doesn't do anything differently when specifying a drive.
