did not expect that post to blow up! anyway, got my annual private clinic fee paid, despite having to send the scary email in question to remind them that i needed to do so. we can all be so brave about emails together.
having a freeze response to stress is so funny in the context of normal adult stressors. millions of years of evolution are trying to tell me that the email will not find me if i stay very still and do nothing
i did the shoulder press for abt 2 months fairly consistently and my upper limit was 15kg across 3 sets 😭 the chest press in my experience does get easier with time on the other hand, i was able to get upto 65kg over 2 weeks ! but the shoulder press remained my enemy … either way consistency is key thing w upper body workouts for me at least is that once u hit ur fatigue point its Done. w lower limb i cld push past the pain but it wasnt possible w upper body for me? so stay regular, try slowly amping up the weight over time once ur able to do a set wo stopping in between recognize when ur body cant do more that day! progress is progress no matter how slow youve got this dont be too discouraged by the numbers
good to know, thanks 💛
it definitely feels like i’m making progress faster with legs/lower body than upper body strength, seems like that’s not uncommon though
the tumblr app has died (died badly)
“To be shaken out of the ruts of ordinary perception, to be shown for a few timeless hours the outer and the inner world, not as they appear to an animal obsessed with survival or to a human being obsessed with words and notions, but as they are apprehended, directly and unconditionally, by Mind at Large — this is an experience of inestimable value to everyone and especially to the intellectual.”
— Aldous Huxley, The Doors of Perception
mutuals who have been going to the gym longer than i have: are the chest press shoulder press machines supposed to be that hard? 🫠
