StratosFur is a furry convention in Houston, Texas, USA, held at the Houston Marriott Westchase. Its parent organization is B.O.O.P. (Board of Opportunity and Outreach for Panspeciesm).
Its tagline is "A Con in Houston for all Furkind".
Since its first year, the convention's charity has been Give Us Paws, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Houston, TX that provides subsidized and free training of eligible candidates' dogs as assistance animals. Additionally, in 2024, the convention also raised $739 for the Montrose Center.[1]
Background[edit]
Shortly after returning from Texas Furry Fiesta 2019, several Houston area furs were inspired together to start a new furry con in Houston. They decided that StratosFur will have an outer space theme as a nod to Houston’s role in the history of space exploration including Apollo 11. Houston is home to the NASA Mission Control Center.
As a furry convention in one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the U.S., StratosFur aims to be an experience that reflects these values:

Mascot[edit]
StratosFur's mascot is Laika[2], a brown and white canine with aspirations to become an astronaut. Her name comes from the Russian space dog that was sent into Earth's orbit in 1957, paying homage to one of the first dogs in space. She is typically seen wearing a colored jumpsuit or standard spacesuit.
