I-CON was the Northeast's largest annual convention of science fiction, fact, and fantasy, held at State University of New York at Stony Brook on Long Island, in Suffolk County, New York. I-CON is jointly held by ICON Science Fiction, Inc., a tax-exempt educational foundation, and the I-CON Campus Chapter of Stony Brook.
I-CON was last held in 2012. An Indiegogo campaign to resurrect the event in June 2014 raised only 10% of its $120,000 goal.[1][2] A smaller relaxacon, LI-CON, has been formed by ICON Science Fiction, in part to raise funds for I-CON.[3] Furries do not appear to have featured in the relaunch; the Indigogo campaign mentioned "topics and interests including science fiction, fantasy, horror, comics, anime, medieval reenactment, science and technology."
Programming and anthropomorphic fandom[edit]
Since its founding in 1982, I-CON was a very eclectic fan convention. The programming included subjects normally found at a variety of other conventions, ranging from speeches by science fiction authors to anime to film to gaming to medieval reenactment to furry fandom.
The Anthropomorphics Track at I-CON was organized by co-track-leaders Jon Cornetto and JBadger. Dr. Samuel Conway (aka. Uncle Kage) was a regular centerpiece of I-CON's anthropomorphic programming from 2003 to 2009.

- I-CON 16 (1997) was held April 4 to 6. The guests included Jose Calderon, Paul Castiglia, Daphne Lage, Brigitte Sleiertin and Mercy Van Vlack.[4]
- I-CON 17 (1998) was held March 27 to 29. The guests included Jose Calderon, Paul Castiglia, Daphne Lage, Brigitte Sleiertin, Mercy Van Vlack,[5] and Brian Yelverton.[6]
- I-CON 18 (1999) featured Jose Calderon, Daphne Lage, Peter "Speet" Stoller, Mercy Van Vlack, and Brian Yelverton.
- I-CON 21 (2002) featured Daphne Lage and Brian Yelverton.
- I-CON 22 (2003) featured Dr. Samuel Conway and his story hour.
- I-CON 23 (2004) featured Dr. Samuel Conway along with John Barrett, Michelle Latta, ScullyRaptor, SueDeer, and Zigzag.
- I-CON 24 (2005) featured Dr. Samuel Conway, Malcolm Earle, Michelle Latta, Aura Moser, ScullyRaptor, Leonard Provansano, Mark Rogers, and Zigzag.
- I-CON 25 (2006) featured Dr. Samuel Conway, Bill Holbrook and Stan Sakai on March 23-25. Film screenings include the shocking mockumentary OMGWTF! Furries and a reading of the sci-fantasy comedy The Red Raven Legends.
- I-CON 26 (2007) featured Dr. Samuel Conway, Heather Bruton, Jim Groat, Fossil, ScullyRaptor, Michelle Latta, and a screening of OMGWTF! Furries as well as a preview of its coming sequel, The Wrath of Con.
- I-CON 27 (2008) was held April 4 to 6. The guest list included Mitsu, Crowchild, Alan Beck, John Sheehan, Fossil, and three members of Umgotts Studios: The Kemeeleon, Amadeus, and DS.
- I-CON 28 (2009) was held April 3 to 5. The guest list included Roxikat, Bill Holbrook, Dr. Samuel Conway, John Sheehan, LadyMage, and Peter Stoller. This instance was held at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood, New York due to construction at the Stony Brook's indoor sports complex.[7]
- I-CON 29 (2010) was held March 26 to 28. The guest list included Egypt Urnash, Joe Strike, Max "Skyfire" West, and Pete Stoller.
- I-CON 30 (2011) was held over April 15 to 17.
- I-CON 31 (2012) was held from March 30 to April 1.
I-CON 32, "planned for March 21st, 22nd and 23rd of 2013" was announced in December 2012 as postponed.[8]
I-CON 32 actually occurred March 17-19, 2017.[9] As of March 2019, there has been no announcement of a further instance.
