Dukecon is[clarify]
What began as a simple backyard gathering with friends quickly evolved into a magical weekend of survival that only the most seasoned fursuiters could endure. Dukecon had become a staple in the international community with furs from Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom; getting together in a small field next to an open-air storage yard in rural Ontario, Canada.
Based out of Keswick, Ontario, Dukecon quickly gained traction as one of the most talked-about and exciting mini-conventions that Southern Ontario had to offer. Hosted and organized by Duke Komarovsky, it snowballed into an annual weekend of drunk debauchery, 2nd-degree burns, and drone attacks by impaired attendees.
Attendees are all required to sleep in tents that they are encouraged to set up upon arrival. Latex and murrsuiting are celebrated and encouraged. Vomiting was such a frequent occurrence, that a counter was set up for keeping track of the number of casualties to the devil's water.
Food is provided for attendees with their registration fee which consists of the finest selection of corporate brand barbequed meats the local grocer has to offer. With nothing to drink except alcohol and no food to eat other than questionably cooked proteins, little could be said for the healthy lifestyles many attendees were accustomed to. Many opted to seek out alternative supplies to retain their sustenance for the 3-day bender of drugs, alcohol, and camping-style sex marathons.
The pool was heavily chlorinated, leading to a murky undertone of cloudy waters that hid the bottom depths. Bottles of liquor were often found at the bottom of the pool, where if a swimmer were to touch one, they are required to take at least 1oz. of a drink from the bottle they find before tossing it back in for another unsuspecting swimmer to do the same.
There is few words that can attest to the long weekends of drunk shenanigans, survivalist style accommodation, and hazy memories of those who had to bear witness to such a legendary event, but Dukecon is not over, it lives on in all it's attendees hearts and livers for eternity.
The event took a brief break in 2020 for COVID-19, when the COVID-19 restrictions were eased in the summer of 2021 and the borders re-opened. This was the unexpected finial Dukecon, it will remain a legendary experience in the clouded memories of its past attendees for a lifetime.
RIP 2018-2021 DukeCon Extravaganza.
