Daphne Lage was a guest of honor at Albany Anthrocon 1997.
In early 1999, Daphne decided to request that all previously created erotic art (including character portraits) hosted or published on the Internet or elsewhere be taken down.[4] This may have been related to her transition from freelance work to illustration and graphic design with companies through late 1998-2001, including Scholastic.[5] This was not a farewell[6] - she continued to work in furry-related activities and commissions, including Bisclavret, a supplement to the Ironclaw roleplaying system by Sanguine Entertainment, even opening[7] a new website (Furry Little Secret) while working on comic book adaptions of La Blue Girl, Demon Beast Invasion and Tenchi Muyo!.
Daphne finally announced[8] sometime in mid-to-late 2000 that she was leaving the fandom; Michael Hirtes claims[citation needed] this was partially due to harassment by fans; this may be some level of projection, considering his own reputation for harassing artists, especially those who have previously contributed to Furplay. She continued to publish her comic, but withdrew her "secret" website and was no longer seen at furry conventions (she still attends Comic-Con International).
