Beaver
From WikiFur, the furry encyclopedia.
Beavers are industrious rodents belonging to the genus Castor[1], known for its ability to create dams. One can identify it by its thick yet short brown fur, pronounced buck teeth, wide, flat tail, and its penchant for cutting down trees using said teeth. Beavers are shy animals.[2] Their diet is mainly tree bark and the soft tissue that grows under the bark of a tree.[3] There are two species, the Eurasian beaver and the North American beaver, which are the only living species of the family Castoridae.
The tail side of the Canadian nickel and even in the coat of arms of the same nation feature this creature.[4] As such, the animal is a common choice for the depiction of Canadian mascots, such as Barney Beaver.
