Hi Lamiot. I notice you added category:Erotic art to this picture. Why? It doesn't seem very erotic to me. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 09:56, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- hello. I made it, because Eros is the god and/or symbol of Love, and sometimes present in erotic art also. It is more for a reference than as an erotic sculpture (as you said). You car remove from the category if you prefer. (sorry for my bad english)
- Ah, OK.

! À Colocho 03:42, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
The Singapore Skyline category edit
[edit]Image:Singapore Skyline Panorama.png
I can't help but wonder why do you tag the image as light pollution. I take it as an insult to our city. We're one of the least polluted cities in the World especially when it comes to light pollution. The shot was taken at 7pm and also the camera's exposure was slightly over exposed to highlight the surrounding lightings. However I cannot conceive your idea that it is considered light pollution. I have already sorted its categories for this image, so I hope there won't be any more unnecessary edits.
- Hello. I think I have understood what you want to say. Congratulation, your photograph is very beautiful and technically very successful.
I know well that Singapore does many efforts against water pollution, air pollution, and perhaps luminous pollution (I don't know), especially in the capital which is less enlightened the night than other capitals of the world, like London, Paris, New York, Wahington or Tokyo, or the cap in south-africa which are very enlightened the night (and
This has many true impacts on fauna and perhaps the flora, and perhaps on human health).
This is why more and more people are interested now in the concept of luminous pollution, which has also undirects links with greenhouse effect, and the wasting of electric power, or the production of dandgerous nuclear waste.
Aesthetically, this does not remove anything with the beauty of these cities the night (as you can see on http://flatplanet.sourceforge.net/maps/images/lightpollution_2000_fixed.png), and to your picture.
In an old part of my life, I was designer and I worked glass and the crystal. It is a job where the beauty of the objects comes from the light. I do also some photographs of night landscape. But I see each year (in my country and all the countries where I go) a less black sky and less and less visible stars. 15 years ago, I went in the desert of the Sahara in the night, and I could not sleep so much the sky was beautiful and spangled. The vision of the starry sky is also a splendid spectable (and important for humain being), as beautiful as that of the large enlightened buildings the night. Many architects or photographers use this light in the night for their work. Some architects try to light the ground without lighting the sky. They try to make a beautiful lighting, without obstructing the butterflies, the bat or the aquatic animals.
If you want to remove the tag, ther is no problems for me, but a category can also contain images which clarify the subject, in various manners ; It would have been possible to write in the comment that Singapore was less enlightened than other cities the night... and thus to présent this picture as a good example for others cities.
But made as you want. Continue in any case to make beautiful photographs, and thank you to place them at the disposal of evrybody in the world, via wikimedia commons.

- Hmm.... I see your point too. Alright, I hope we two have came to an agreement, thanks anyway for your photographic comments!

Great series: "Efflorescence_verte..." - care to put them into the gallery?
[edit]The set of algal bloom photos that you uploaded on August 24 is brilliant: good to great photos and sufficiently sickening-looking to drive home the point of how serious algal blooming can become. Could you take the time to add your pictures into this gallery: Algal bloom? They would fit there very well. Friendly regards --Ronja 12:17, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, of course. It is done.--F. Lamiot 20:49, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you! The Algal bloom gallery is starting to look quite useful now. If you happen to find somebody else's algal bloom pictures, which are not yet in the gallery, could you please ask them to add their pictures there (or if it is just one picture, be bold and add it yourself)? That would be a great help. Friendly regards --Ronja 06:17, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Cyanobacteria Dead Fish
[edit]Greetings from South Carolina ETV and Knowitall.org at Knowitall.org! I am a Curriculum Coordinator for Knowitall.org, currently developing and correlating content for RiverVenture.org. I was wondering if you would you be willing to contribute the use of your pictures like "Efflorescence_verte_1_CyanobacteriaDeadFish.jpg" to the RiverVenture Web site (http://www.riverventure.org/). The picture would be used in a new, upcoming module that will focus on the geology of the coldwater, mountain stream ecosystem of Carrick Creek at Table Rock, South Carolina, so we are searching for pictures like this one to help illustrate the water cycle. Knowitall.org is ETV's portal to FREE, Web-based multimedia featuring a collection of interactive sites for K-12 teachers, parents, and students. You'll find animated games and simulations, virtual tours, research resources, close-up investigations of the environment and much more! There are many South Carolina-related resources here, too. It is a valuable educational tool that can enhance learning by allowing children to interact with quality, standards-based information and content. We would happily give you credit for use of your photo(s). Please just send me an e-mail reply as to whether you are willing to share and on what terms and conditions.
In the instances we use your photograph, we will be happy to publish it with a courtesy credit in the form of a watermark on the photo reading "Lamiot," or whatever you prefer. Please let us know if you would like it to say something else specifically. Your work will be protected under copyright of the ETV Commission, used as content and for promotion connected with ETV's newest module of RiverVenture and Knowitall.org, and related projects. We would be sure to notify you when the Carrick Creek module of RiverVenture goes up, and you could let us know if you have any objection to the use of your photos in the site. We will do our best to help you maintain creative control of your work. Thank you very much, again!

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:03, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, the image File:Hungary_ajka_toxicspill_october9_2010_dgDetail.jpg is a modified version of the original which have its license disputed. Just maybe you wanted to know. --grin ✎ 10:03, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- This original image has been filed by DigitalGlobe, the producer of the image itself (that's me who asked him if he would offer an image to illustrate the Wikipedia article on the crash Ajka).
I am not an expert on the license, but I believe he used a license copies and other uses, asking only that the image source is cited. Is not allowed on Commons? --F. Lamiot (talk) 12:19, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I properly understand you, so please help me clarify:
- Is the account Digitalglobe is yours? If yes, could you send the permission email or document to <permissions at wikimedia dot org> email and quote back the OTRS ticket it replies?
- If the account isn't yours how could we assure that the image was authorised under the said license by DigitalGlobe, Inc? Again, a permission email from their official email (obviously using their official mailserver) is required, as I do not have the means to see the connection between a commons account and a company.
- The said permission would be okay, but I cannot verify its validity. How can I be sure that DigitalGlobe, Inc. have given the permission?
- If you could help to resolve this it would be nice. Thanks. --grin ✎ 11:54, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

- Hello Frin.. I'm not "Digitalglobe" and the acount of Digitalglobe is not mine.. I believe DigitalGlobe (on W. But I asked them to do that (if they agree).. Before than, I have been sending (2010/10/12 2:14) an email to Digital Globe (info@digitalglobe.com) to ask to this society (producer of satellital pictures) if it could give a picture to Wikipedia (with a good licence, adapted to wikipedia).
Here above the contents of the mail that I sent them to request this picture (or another)
Hello. I am one of the many people (Volunteer) who write collectively and collaboratively encyclopedia Wikipedia.
You have posted photos on Flikr extraordinary mudslides red aluminum plant in Hungary. Thank you for that picture (on Flickr). We would be happy to put one of these photos illustrate the articles of Wikipedia.
It would be possible with a licensing proposed by Wikimedia Commons. Would you - exceptionally - to give away one of your pictures (http://www.flickr.com/photos/digitalglobe-imagery/5072153937/ for instance), possibly with averaged definition if you prefer), so it could illustrate articles from Wikipedia (potentially over 120 languages).
If yes , you can load it into Wikimedia commons through the page:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Accueil
As category you can choose : Category:Ajka alumina plant accident.
If you do that, thank you very very much

As far as I see they never have acknowledged your email and never have asserted that the account is theirs. The account neglected to reply the question on his talk page, so I cannot really assume its validity. Anyone can create an account "digitalglobe", that's zero proof, I'm sorry. If you can get them replying your email, that'd be useful. I tried to email the account, but I am not holding my breath. --grin ✎ 21:00, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

- Hello Grin... yes, precisely, this is why I sent them an email (copy above) asking them to submit themselves, by creating thier own special account on commons, one of their images (if they accept, of course), under the commons license that they choose.
Just this single image, loaded on Commons, is licensed commons. --F. Lamiot (talk) 06:34, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Image sur pollution lumineuse
[edit]Bonjour Lamiot,
Merci ! Et bien à toi
Mianreg (talk) 17:17, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

D'avance merci. --Christian COGNEAUX (talk) 02:48, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- Bonsoir Christian.
--F. Lamiot (talk) 22:18, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

Wikimedia suggested I contact you directly because they were not sure how I would credit you. If you approve this and have any suggestions I look forward to hearing from you. I am producing a range of t-shirts with images of pollution which are both beautiful and yet socially and ecologically aware. I look forward to hearing from you soon
- Ok, no problem. I simply ask you to write in small edge of the image: Photo: Wikimedia commons, F. Lamiot
Question Zone rouge

Question for Lamiot based on one of your posts
[edit]Dear Lamiot, Pardon me for writing in English. I only know a few words of French, pero se poco Español.
For a book I am writing on obstacles to environmental solutions, I would like to obtain a photo of this canister but showing the complete wording of the part of the label that refers to warm blooded animals. I assume it says something to the effect that the product is safe for warm blooded animals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDT#mediaviewer/File:DDTDichlordiphényltrichloréthane7.JPG
I realize it might be impossible to capture the entire relevant text in one photo. A transcript would also be valuable, especially if combined with a photograph of the front of the label.
I gather from your Wikipedia page that you took the photo and may therefore either have the canister or know where it is located.
Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia.
I would appreciate any help you can provide. Merci beaucoup, Peter Schulze ; Professor of Biology and Environmental Science ; Austin College ; Sherman, TX USA

Myxomycète
[edit]Bonsoir,

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open!
[edit]You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2015 Picture of the Year contest.
Dear Lamiot,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.
Thanks,
-- Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 09:44, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

File:EclairageEuropeAtNightBenjamin D. Hennigccbysa3.0.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. Media from Open Access journals
[edit]Bonjour Lamiot,
if you upload media from Open Access publications, please categorize them into the right "Media from..." category. For this file it would be Category:Media from PLOS ONE.
It's also desirable to link the DOI with brackets: doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0010315 gets rendered doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0010315.

Copyright status: File:Judas goat Chèvre de Judas.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Judas goat Chèvre de Judas.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Emilie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrehldenn (talk • contribs) 07:08, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:ENR GLOBAL RENEWABLE ENERGY EMPLOYMENT BY TECHNOLOGY, 2012-2018 Irena fr 2019.jpg.
Thank you. |

Category:European_green_infrastructure has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

Licences des images de brevet ?
[edit]Salut,

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)
[edit]In other languages (translate this)
|
---|
|
Thank you for uploading some images!
Did you know that Wikimedia Commons recommends the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format for certain types of images? Scalable Vector Graphics are designed to look appropriate at any scale, and SVG images are easier to modify and translate, helping Wikimedia to distribute knowledge to all of the world. A lot of modern programs support SVG export. If you encountered problems or have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, a member of the Graphic Lab, or the Graphics village pump. Uploading images in SVG format isn't mandatory, but it would help. (To avoid any misunderstandings, please don't just put raster images into an SVG container as embedded raster.) Thanks, and happy editing!

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2022 voting is open!
[edit]Read this message in your language
Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
You are receiving this message because you voted in the 2021 Picture of the Year contest.

Thanks for uploading File:Indicateur disparition papillons France INPN 2022.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Indicateur disparition papillons France INPN 2022.png ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Wiki Science Competition
[edit]Bonjour Lamiot,
