A situation has come up regarding the spelling of one of Oscar Wilde's middle names. Any and all input here Talk:Oscar Wilde would be appreciated. Thanks. MarnetteD|Talk 18:45, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tony Leondis

[edit]

Apologies if this talkpage is unwatched; not sure where else to bring this. Found this article Tony Leondis in the course of normal gnoming. The § Personal life section consists wholly of a single sourced statement stating the subject is gay. Is there a better place for that factoid, or a better way to handle it? I'd throw it in the lead, but I'm not sure it's WP:DUE; or I'd get rid of it, but it might be necessary to establish categorisation in LGBT categories (which is already done). Please edit as deemed best. Folly Mox (talk) 14:56, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The personal life section is the typical norm for factoids like this to add sourcing for such facts.
Other facts that also go there typically are facts like married to or personal pronouns and such that the person has disclosed about them. Which yes as you noted, on BLP is somewhat important to have sourced in the article to support the categorization as any unsourced information is subject to removal on BLPs.
In this particular case, you could expand the factoid with a small more prose-like sentence based on the ref source saying something like "In an interview about the Emoji movie, Leondis talked about his experience of growing up gay and connecting with the character Gene about feeling different in the world growing up." if that is what you're trying to solve. I have added another fact to keep it from seeming such a lonely section. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 04:37, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
