Bienvenue! Willkommen! Welcome!

And there we have it. The national selection season is over, and the final countdown to Vienna has begin. At the Heads of Delegations meeting, held in Vienna, all of the 40 competing countries submitted their selected entries for the sixtieth edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Who's will win? Will there be any in the running to get the dreaded "nul point"? We shall find out those answers in May. The Project Eurovision Cup is already in full-swing, with one member currently in a runaway lead. Can they hold onto that lead? The answer to that question will be revealed in a few weeks time. However, registration for the next competition is open. Have you got what it takes to be crowned Outstanding Project Member? Sign up today!

There is serious concerns regarding content being added to biography articles, which quite a lot of content being added without strong sources to verify the changes. The newsdesk editorial team strongly urge all members to familiarise themselves with all of the BLP guidelines, in order to avoid being placed on a BLP arbitration sanction. Also there are still a lot of articles that have not had their respective talk pages created and/or are unassessed. It is vital that you create such talk pages and assess them. Such actions help this project to keep a near-accurate record of all articles that we current hold and may require any maintenance action carried out on them. And they also help to notify the project of any that get nominated for deletion too. So if you create an article without a talk page, and it gets deleted, then you only have yourselves to blame.

In the meantime, keep that team spirit momentum going as there is loads that needs to be worked upon to keep us all occupied throughout the year. Please remember to keep an eye on the project talk page as there are several active debates still taking place that require input from as many project members as possible. Some of you may also wish to join WikiProject Song, especially when the topic area we deal with surrounds itself primarily by songs. You never know, you may even pick up a few hints and tips from that project which will help you flourish as a Wikipedian editor. Also, encourage potential new members to the project by posting {{subst:EurovisionInvite}} (which will produced this template) on their talk pages. If you would like something to appear in the next edition of Eurovision Monthly, then please inform us at the Project Newsdesk.

Happy editing! Wesley Mouse

Project news

  • There are still a handful of newly created articles that are not being tagged {{WikiProject Eurovision}} on their respective talk pages. Can we please make sure that when we create a new article that the talk page is also created, What one needs to remember is that even creating the article's talk page goes towards your edit count which in turn builds up your experience in the Wikipedia community. More information on assessment can be found at WP:COUNCIL/AFAQ and Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision/Assessment.
  • A few problems are still being repeated too, with articles having unsourced content being added. And there have also been severe BLP violations and unsourced changes to dates of birth. We need to be 100% air-tight with sourcing and what we add when dealing with BLP articles. So be warned that you could face sanctions for violating BLP policies.
