Suspected sockpuppets
Evidence submitted by - (User) Wolfkeeper (Talk)

Looks very suspicious, user Deegee375/204.130.175.251 suddenly started reverting the article[1] with hardly any previous edit history, and without any obvious reason. It certainly at least appears to be a sleeper sock by someone. The edit text and context seems consistent with it being Greg_L (who is otherwise at the 3RR limit right now[2][3][4]), although Hipocrite also could be running it if they're trying to proactively avoid going 3RR, even though they aren't there yet, as they've been edit warring in the related accelerometer article.[5][6][7][8]

  1. This is fishing. D375 is obviously the IP (signature amendment). D375 reverted me with his only edits -> me D375 reverting all my changes out. If I am checked, please inform me via email. Hipocrite (talk) 05:39, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conclusions

Red X Unrelated. D375 looks for all the world like a sleeper account, but there is no indication whose. Mackensen (talk) 12:15, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I find it suspicious that both often edit WP:CfD, and in this last few days, both Bulldog123 and GregL have used an unusual type of green text in an uncommon font. Possible HAND. Purplebackpack89≈≈≈≈ 15:43, 14 April 2011 (UTC) Purplebackpack89≈≈≈≈ 15:43, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any additional evidence these two are related? I don't see enough here to warrant investigation. TNXMan 16:31, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

This is related to a current issue at ANI: Content dispute at Fuzzball (string theory). In short, Greg L has added a great deal of content to the article Fuzzball (string theory), it was reverted by User:Phantom Hoover, and then the new user MLee1957 appeared to support Greg L—already knowing how to ping, what ANI is, etc. In isolation, perhaps it's a coincidence—however, I noticed some idiosyncratic language used by both accounts:

  • Calling anons/IPs "I.P. editor": 1, 2, 3 by Greg L; 1 by MLee1957
  • Usage of "hereon": 1, 2, 3, 4 by Greg L; 1 by MLee1957
  • Usage of "un-cited": 1, 2, 3 by Greg L; 1 by MLee1957
  • Replying with "respond": 1, 2, 3, 4 by Greg L; 1 by MLee1957

I believe the similarities here are more than mere coincidence and merit investigation from a CheckUser. Woodroar (talk) 23:34, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please go forward with the investigation. I am not MLee1957. For whatever it's worth, I too noticed MLee1957 used {ping} in his/her response on that discussion thread and chalked it up to copying wikicode there. P.S.: And one more thing: I wouldn't use {ping} like that (buried in a sentence when merely referring to someone); I’d link to their user or talk page. Pinging belongs at the start of post… to ping them. Greg L (talk) 00:22, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
