Directions

[edit]

View the restaurant's location on Google Maps

Public transit

[edit]
  • Amtrak – From 30th Street Station, transfer to the Market–Frankford Line at 30th and Market Streets, then continue directions below.
  • SEPTA buses – SEPTA bus routes 9, 12, 21, 23, 38, 47, 47m, and 61 all have stops within two blocks of the restaurant. Take the bus to either Walnut Street or 10th Street, depending which way the bus is traveling. For more information, view the schedules at SEPTA.org.

Car

[edit]
  • From I-676 (eastbound or westbound) – Take the 8th Street exit, and follow 8th Street south (one-way). After traveling four blocks, make a right onto Walnut Street, and the restaurant is at 12th and Walnut. Street parking is hard to find in this part of the city, but there are plenty of parking garages in the area.

Questions?

[edit]

Please contact me by leaving me a message on my talk page and I will be able to assist you with any questions regarding transportation or directions to this event. –Dream out loud (talk) 21:48, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invite list

[edit]

This is pretty much the invite list used for the last meetup. It was not compiled in any really systematic way and is certainly not a complete list of users from this region. It would probably be worthwhile to attempt to expand it. Can you take on this challenge?? Add my name to the list of invitees

WHYY

[edit]

I don't know if anybody else has, but I received an email from a reporter at WHYY, would like to come to this next meetup and do a story on us. What do people think about that? --Whiteknight (talk) (books) 04:54, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For the second Philly meetup we had a reporter from Citypaper come and I don't think anybody had a problem with it. I for one welcome the publicity for the wikipedia project. I'll get done with the planning tonight. --TexasDex 05:25, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did anyone see on WHYY-TV-12, "The Truth According to Wikipedia"? It was on last night Tue., 27 Jan., 10:00 PM, and will air again Fri, 6 Feb., 10:00 PM. Tech Crunch on Dutch filmmaker, IJsbrand van Veelen's documentary, The Truth About Wikipedia. [1]

Neighborly advice from NYC on how to plan a rescheduled meetup

[edit]
  • Attract attendees
  • Make it easier to sign up
    • Use simple subsections like Likely attendees, Possible attendees and Regrets for signup lists, as at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC. Requiring people to come up with some decimal fraction of their likelihood of attending will only make signing up more complicated, and fewer people will commit to it.
    • You don't have to vote on everything. If someone is just bold and picks a date and place, people will know about the date a few weeks in advance (instead of a couple of days), which will make planning easier for individuals.
  • Make it interesting
    • If you had some activities in addition to the meal at a restaurant (such as a sit-down chapter organizational meeting, or a museum activity), it would be more likely to attract some people. Well, it would be more likely to attract me, actually.--Pharos (talk) 05:58, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regrets

[edit]
  • PYLrulz: 5 0 Thought this day could work out well, but we will see, my friend has gotten tickets to a Hershey Bears game, and Angie (my fiancee) will not be able to come along this time, unlike the last time. Will defently have an answer by this Thursday or Friday. Not this time, my friend got the tickets, and since nobody else he knows is able to go along that day, I am coming along. Maybe next time, sorry.
  • ike9898 (talk) 0 I'm going to be naked in Mexico that day.
  • Superm401 - Talk. I can't make this one. 0.
  • Pearrari - Regrets. 0.
  • Danntm - Regrets, as that day has filled up w/ commitments. 0
  • The first I will have missed. --evrik (talk) 16:38, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
