Wikipedia:Igloo/help
This is the user manual for igloo.
|
The intention is that igloo become quite a large script, with several advanced and useful features. As it is still very much in development, however, I have not got round to creating – and definitely not documenting – most of the current and intended features. You're free to expand this page, but if you need any help at the moment, just leave a note on the talk page.
Setup
[edit]Requirements
[edit]igloo has the following operating requirements:
- Mozilla Firefox 3 , Google Chrome and Safari (igloo doesn't work with Internet Explorer or Opera)
- Full JavaScript-enabled — JavaScript limitations may prevent it from running correctly
- Rollback privileges (visit Wikipedia:Requests for permissions to get this)
- A fast internet connection
Installation
[edit]igloo is designed for, and compatible with, the monobook and vector skins — other skins are not guaranteed to work and your success may vary.
- Add importScript('Wikipedia:Igloo/gloo.js'); // [[Wikipedia:Igloo]] to your skin.js page
- Clear your browser cache. Bypassing the cache is occasionally ineffective, and may result in the igloo modules failing to communicate.
- Be sure to add exceptions to any script blocking add-ons such as NoScript.
- Reload this page, and click 'launch igloo'.
Using igloo
[edit]Browsing edits
[edit]Recent edits feed
[edit]When igloo loads recent edits will appear down the left side of the screen, this list is refreshed every 5 seconds. To select an edit to view the diff simply click on it in the edit feed.
Page search
[edit]To see the latest diff of a particular page, enter the page name in the search box and click the adjacent green arrow or click enter.
Browsing history
[edit]To view pages again after moving on use the back / forward arrows at the top of the window.
Reviewing edits
[edit]To help with reviewing an edit to determine if any action needs to be taken, words that could be considered profane are highlighted pink.
Reverting edits and reporting users
[edit]Vandalism
[edit]This option in the revert dropdown reverts an edit with an edit summary of vandalism and warns the user with an uw-vandalism template.
Spam
[edit]Removal of content
[edit]Personal attacks
[edit]Factual errors
[edit]AGF (Assume Good Faith)
[edit]This option in the revert dropdown reverts an edit with an edit summary that assumes that the edit was a good faith edit and does not warn the user.
Custom Summary
[edit]The custom summary option allows editors to use a user-defined summary when reverting. The user is warned with {{uw-disruptive1}} (the level progresses with every new warning), which will be the default warning until custom warnings are implemented.
Page History
[edit]By hovering over the clock icon, igloo displays a dropdown with a list of the most recent revisons to that page, with the user who made that edit as the text on that particular dropdown "link". Clicking on one of the "links" will display that particular revision in igloo.
Settings
[edit]Clicking on the settings cog reveals a popup with some settings that you can control, including, but not limited to, the font size of the diffs you view, whether to hide your own edits and how often to refresh the recent changes feed.
